Many just underestimate Spielberg and the fact that in the eyes of many people, this is a big Oscar contender. When I was seeing King Kong, there was a trailer of Munich before it and there was a couple sitting next to me and the woman said to the guy "Ah, Spielberg's Munich. Ut has been cured best movie of the year. Gping to win the Oscars. We should se it". No idea what she was talking about, but this is what I think is the main perfception of the movie, that it's Oscar stuff and if Amistad with a much less controversal topic and less hype surrounding it could open to a PTA of over $14,000 back in 1997, this should have no problems breaking a PTA of $18,000.

there is competition, no doubt but only one other movie is opening on Friday and thats the Ringer. Two are opening on Wednesday and the other two on Sunday. So it's not too bad.

I haven't analyzed it fully yet, but at the moment, I would say a PTA of $17,500 would be good. $9,187,500 is a lot of money for a film with less than 1,000 theatres, even for an Oscar contender by Spielberg. I could see it passing the $10m mark, but I'm not willing to got far yet.

I would recommend one more time to go take a look at the same weekend in 1994, the last time Christmas Eve fell on a Saturday.
THE TOP TEN MOVIES MADE JUST $69,243,119 in FOUR DAYS (INCLUDING monday)
Even in today's Dollars (average ticket price in 1994 $4.18 vs. $6.40) that's just $106,018,173 in (now screaming) FOUR DAYS!!! Saturday's gonna be very depressing at the box office and you all seem to ignore that...

Box Office trends in 1994 were quite different than they are today, though. The huge megaplexes saturating every movie in every market was not a reality yet, 2000 was a good wide release, the biggest wide release of the year for box office made just over 40 million (Lion King) and many, many weekends during the year had a #1 movie that made less than 10 million.

Plus, this attracts a large Jewish audience, and Jews (including myself) see movies on Christmas.

After reading some screen counts and such, and seeing reviews are not that over the top positive, I think It´ll do a bit less... maybe $12-13K

Wow, I didn't realize Munich was 2 hours and 44 minutes long.
I might have overpredicted the PTA.

I went with a $19,500 PTA for the 4-day weekend, playing it safe, but I still do expect a $20,000+ PTA.

I predicted $5 million for the 4-Day, so this looks pretty good. I think Munich will be a little higher, though.
