The increases for the kid movies seems strangely low. Perhaps a better hold is in store tomorrow.

That doesn't sound right, Nebs. Let's stick with all SBD or all BOM, though no Sat numbers are availabale for most movies.

Those are actually SBD #'s except more detailed right? They're very similar, the only difference is they arent rounded, they go to the exact dollar.

After looking at BB increase again, it seems odd, what do they have for it's Friday #'s?

It's hard to tell what is happening at all. The chart above uses BOM's friday number of $4.5 million for Begins, while showbizdata reported $5.3 million for Friday, and The-Numbers reported $5.1 million. These differences are occuring with basically every other film. It's annoying, because we don't know who's right. We have to wait until weekend estimates and actuals come.

PEACE, Mike ;)

Well, whatever the number today for War of the Worlds, it'll be a happy birthday for Tom Cruise today, as I believe he is getting 20% of the profits instead of a base salary.

There are a few studio estimates published on Box Office Mojo for this weekend. However, full 3-day and 4-day weekend estimates will be published Monday morning due to the holiday, followed by actual grosses for everything on Tuesday. Daily estimates during the weekend generally aren't from the studios.

We make our own Friday estimates on Saturday mornings at Box Office Mojo and are generally the most accurate at it. Our $21.5 million Friday estimate for War of the Worlds, for instance, turned out to be spot on with the official estimates Paramount reported to us today, and the correct Saturday figure was $22.7 million, not $24.6 million.

Brandon Gray also wrote:
Friday estimates (on Saturdays) are the only published estimates we make ourselves, apart from daily estimates for movies from studios that don't do daily box office (like New Line and Miramax). And we usually revise them a day later with the studio's Friday estimates.

In other words, we only publish our own estimates to fill in enough holes to have complete, daily coverage. So once in a great while, we will plug in one of our estimates in the weekend estimates (and make note of it). But the rule is we go with the studios' estimates, out of courtesy and for consistency.

So, just friday ones are from Mojo. Thought saturday were also made by them.

Not that many people care with movies like Batman Begins and War of the Worlds present on the chart, but The Longest Yard has been doing great in the box office. It should end with about $155 million, which, I think, is a lot more than people expected. =D>

I only wish it wouldn't have lost so many theaters this weekend. Look at its PTA drop! It IS the big summer comedy.

you not the only one ill be lucky to get even 10% on both of them... I gave Land way to much credit, thought 60% drop was plenty, also I based Rebound (another kids movie) on my theatre which once again screwd me over as we are doing amazing with it

Thats already 20m in the bank. If it makes 250m he'll have a good 50m.
