Re: The Official Movie Release Date Schedule
Just took a look at the release schedule for August and wtf: 15Aug 1.The International 2.Mirrors 3.Star Wars:Clone Wars 4.Tropic Thunder 5.Vicky Cristina Barcelona 22Aug 6.The Accidental Husband 7.Crossing Over 8.Death Race 9.Fly Me To The Moon 10.The House Bunny 11.The Longshots 11 releases in two weeks? stupid scheduling yet again. most of these have are shit/bomb movies anyway but really, why crowd everything together much less make them if they look like bombs? And as usual September/October are overflowing with mostly crap.

Re: The Official Movie Release Date Schedule
August is often like that, though, especially in the last two weeks. The studios dump their product that they don't think would be successful in the more competitive parts of the summer at the very end to try to make a quick buck before school starts. I mean, look at the releases on August 22.

Re: The Official Movie Release Date Schedule
Possession, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and Lee Pace, has been pushed back again. This time from October to January 9, 2009. Will the movie ever come out? It was originally scheduled to come out back in February of this year, making its new release date almost an entire year later!

Yeah 2009 is open in general. Some of the Aug-Oct films should definitely move.

Plus, the TDK sequel should probably coming out summer 2011 unless they decide to rush it for summer 2010 (which they won't because Noaln will probably want to do a movie in-between just like last time).
Most likley though, I think SM4 will end up in 2012. I think Marvel probably won't have any projects in 2012 as they'll just have had the Avengers film a year before.
A five year gap between SM3 and SM4 I think will be fine. 5-years was enough for people to come back to a new Hulk and I think five years will be enough for people to come back to Spidey considring that even though the people hated the third one, they still did love the first two. I'm thinking it's more likely that the next Batman won't hit before 2012... Spidey 4 shouldn't be out before 2012 either, though...

Re: The Official Movie Release Date Schedule
Unless TDK sucks like SM3 why would WB want to wait that long. 3 years is good enough gap to use the WOM from TDK. Plus CN can go ahead and make another movie before next batman.

Spidey 4 shouldn't be out before 2012 either, though... Four year gap? Nah. The demand for a sequel will be too high to wait four years on it. WB hasnt released a Superman sequel and they are very unlikely to in 2010 either. WB either is going to make a Superman film till 2011 but would very unlikely make a Batman film in the same year. I also dont think they would wait like 6 years to make Superman film so theres alot of decision involved

As long as TDK has good WOM, the sequel is a 300m+ lock. You just don't sit on a 300m+ lock for that long. Not to mention, summer 2011 already has Captain America and Avengers. A new Superman film can't compete in that summer. TDK sequel though could. A Superman film SHOULD come out in 2010, July 4th time. It's open and far away from the major 300m+ contenders in summer 2010 (Iron Man, Shrek, and Toy Story). And if they can't get it for 2010, they aint going to have it for 2011 and push TDK away. It just would be one a stupid move.[ unlikely http://www.comics2film.com/index.php?a=story&b=33800Quote: Long-term, live-action Robotech, Johnny Quest, World of Warcraft, He-Man and Justice League films are also on the agenda for licensing, as well as the CGI Thundercats and a third Batman film from Chris Nolan, Gilmore says. No mention of Superman yet Batman 3 is there. We already know Gears of Wars is coming in summer 010 and probably 2 or 3 of those franchises mentioned above being released that year too I mean the He-man script is already written and the other one is being worked on

Re: The Official Movie Release Date Schedule
He's Just Not That Into You has been delayed again, this time from October 24 to February 6 next year. Uh-oh. I mean, probably a smart box office move considering it would've been crushed by Saw and High School Musical, but the fact that February 6 is half a year after its original release date isn't really promising.
The Kate Hudson-Anne Hathaway comedy Bride Wars will open January 9.

The Kate Hudson-Anne Hathaway comedy Bride Wars will open January 9. Actually that might not be so bad Libs. There is no rom-com scheduled for Feb/Valentine's Day as yet which is surprising. This plugs that hole. February 6 - He's Just Not That Into You - The Pink Panther 2 - Push - The Wayans Bros. Comedy February 13 - Confessions of a Shopaholic - Friday the 13th - They Came From Upstairs - Valkyrie February 20 - 17 Again - The International - Sci-Fi Movie February 27 - Obsessed - Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li http://www.comingsoon.net/movies.php?year=2009&month=2What ever happened to Ghost of Girlfriend's Past?? Im sure this was scheduled for Feb 13 at one stage

Re: The Official Movie Release Date Schedule
It could do $15m+ opening day, but considering that Valentine's Day is the next day, it might not drop that bad. It'll be insanely frontloaded, though. Probably the worst multiplier ever for a $20m+ opener.

Re: The Official Movie Release Date Schedule
Yeah. Cloverfield almost touched 2x. Almost.
It'll be similar to, if not less than, The Grudge 2. That opened on Friday the 13th as well, dropped 25.5% on Saturday (and for some reason, dropped 55.2% on Sunday). Its opening weekend was $20.8m and it grossed $39.1m, a 1.87 multiplier. That's probably the current worst multiplier for a $20m+ opener. And if Friday the 13th had that much of an effect on The Grudge 2, imagine on the actual Friday the 13th film. And, not to mention, it'll get a lot of business on its second day, too (Valentine's Day). I could literally see $15m Friday, $12m Saturday, and $7m Sunday for a $31m weekend (more or less) and $55-57m total. I don't see its overall multiplier breaking 2.0.

The budget is only $16M so it'll be profitable before its first weekend is over.

Yeah though would have preferred a an anctioner to go head to head with Up.
Lets hope we start seeing Summer 2009 take shape and the latter part get some more heavy hitters.
