Not enough sex. That's the problem.
Audiences today demand more sex.

Yeah - Naomi Watts hasn't been shy to take off her shirt in other movies, it mighta helped - at least I wouldn't have been bored for the whole three hours...

I think it will outgross narnia, and it could be second of the year. However, something certainly did go wrong on opening day. With a big opening and this WOM this could have easily been a 300m+ film.

Before, during or after the movie?

Instead you're playing around with a wooden stick pretending to be a jedi your whole life and since this year sleeping with a plush lion, zebra, giraffe and hippo...

True, in that studios get less out of the overseas gross, but still, money is money...

But if we're comparing movies performances side by side, surely what counts is the film that got the most..

You seem to be obsessed with presenting Kong in a negative light when it hasn't even been out a week! constant snidey comments, links to negative articles, licking up to people who bash the film etc..you're pathetic

Nope.
The One has linked to NO article and has actually not posted much in this forum at all, ever.. but someone needs to counter some of the less honourable posters in here.. as for "licking up" you are an idiot since most in here are presenting a negative appraisal of Kong's B.O there is hardly anyone to "lick up" to! (as if The Great One would anyway)
And you're still fucking soulless and dull..no-one actually believes you are some great film critic, you just come off as someone who likes to be the contrarian.

So??? It's sort of hard not to do this with KONG'S Stellar box office performance thus far of a 9.7 Million Wed, 6.2 Million Thurs and 14.2 Million on Friday, which means this movie is performing pathetically for as much overhype and praise as it's received.. In short: It SUCKS..

I am pleasantly surprised by these numbers...These numbers tell me that like Titanic, word of mouth and interest in this movie is rising and that this movie will probably last a long time at the box office. I suppose it is quite difficult to make a prediction. But this movie will open better than an unexpected hit like Pirates of the Carribean, which grossed over 300 million domestically alone. I predict that this one will outlast that one, so coupled with a better opening, it could even reach 400 million. I predict this one will be so huge and deservedly so.

For every explanation (handicap) on why Kong failed to live up to expectations there is an example of a film that suceeded with those same handicaps. It's a mystery.

Parts or all of this post may be duplicated in other threads....so sue me.
After seeing KK for the 2nd time today, I saw it at 1400 and it was a near sell out for a Sunday show. I still enjoyed the first act leading up to Naomi's capture which I still think is the best part of the film. The second act I have to admit was better this time around and the audience just eats this part of the film without a doubt. KK being amused by Darrow, the insect battle, the Trex fights all go over very well with the audience. The only part in this 2nd viewing that still seems a bit much is the brontosaurus stampede, but that's minor. Also, the bats are very effective in the film which brings me to a comment on it and JP. I think KK wins hands down on this one now, no question. The final act was also better this viewing although the parts with Darrow and KK do start to get alittle sugary it's not overwhelming. I also was alot more "touched" this time around when dealing with a couple scenes in particular. When KK and Darrow view the sunsets at Skull Island and then in New York. I had to try really hard to not shed a tear during that NY scene. Also, the scene on the ice pond reminded me of Kate & Leo in Titanic when they were dancing in the lower quarters. In the end, the only thing that has really gone wrong with KK is the opening week grosses, but the way the audience just eats up the 2nd act makes me feel my 220 something final domestic Might be too low if one can believe that.
First Act-A
Second Act-B+
Final Act-B+
Grade-A-
I still don't think though that it's deserving of all the glowing reviews which leads one to think it's one of the best films Ever made but I do feel it's a very good film rather than just good.

Smart man.
You know, I had tears in my eyes during that scene on my 2nd viewing!
