Re: THE DARK KNIGHT Rises (INTL.)
Yes. That's what happens when a director refuses to go with 3D because it doesn't add anything, and yet goes with IMAX cameras. 3D is a nice little cash cow for overseas grosses. With 3D, it would already be over $500M.

Massive number. It is crossing $1b WW total though I don't see it crossing DMC on the WW charts.

Re: THE DARK KNIGHT Rises (INTL.)
So it hasn't opened in China and it has $445M? Good, good.... It should easily pass $550M. Perhaps $600M too.

Re: THE DARK KNIGHT Rises (INTL.)
It had pretty steep drops in many countries. I am guessing the Olympics hurt it. Gitesh Pandya of Box Office Guru says it is "fading fast" overseas. I don't know about that but hopefully in manages to recover a bit next week

Re: THE DARK KNIGHT Rises (INTL.)
The Dark Knight Rises made $34.2 million over the weekend overseas.
It also has Italy ahead where The Dark Knight made almost $14 million. I'd say, it's a near-lock for $550+ million and thus $1+ billion worldwide, but it won't pass The Dark Knight worldwide by much.

I'm not, I just didn't mention it because choubachou did before me. I just added Italy.

Re: THE DARK KNIGHT Rises (INTL.)
I think you can say goodbye to any hopes of a mega total for TDKR in China. Not only is the government forcing Spidey and Batman to open on the same day, it's forcing Prometheus to open just a week later and Bourne/Total Recall to open only 2 weeks after Prometheus. None of these films will be allowed to reach their potential. It's a gigantic "fuck you" from the government to Hollywood.

Any reason why China releasing TDKR and Spiderman the same day, redfirebird2008?

They want their domestic films to be propped up during the months of July and August and they want to send a message that Hollywood isn't really welcome there. WB asked them to move TDKR and they refused to do it. It's either agree to the shitty release date or cancel it altogether.

I still think, if people want to see TDKR, they will see it.

Dr. Lecter wrote: I still think, if people want to see TDKR, they will see it. Screen counts and theater counts matter though. TDKR's 4th weekend drop in North America compared to its 3rd weekend drop is proof of this. It lost a bunch of screens and theaters because there were three new films opening. And sure enough it dropped worse in the 4th weekend than the 3rd weekend. Forcing two superhero movies to open on the same day will screw both of them, but tacking on three more action movies over the next 2.5 weeks will screw all 5 of the movies.

It'll screw Spider-Man more, IMO.

TDKR is doing superb in Poland. It needed just 21 days to pass TDK total in admissions.

Re: THE DARK KNIGHT Rises (INTL.)
In Germany it'll pass TDKR within four weeks as well, it seems (in admissions!). Will definitely become the biggest comic book adaptation in Germany since Spider-Man 3, maybe since Spider-Man 2!

Re: THE DARK KNIGHT Rises (INTL.)
I think $575m or close to $600m OS total for $1.03B-$1.04B WW total reaching Top 10 and might get to #9 on the list taking over OST.
