Re: HARRY POTTER 7-1: Deathly Hallows (INTL.) - $609.6m (#56
Just double confirmed that the estimated weekend OS total was 389.2 and it came down. Though the weekend number came up from 113.2m to 114m. I wonder how they do that...I guess they used some of the weekdays numbers for weekend

Largest 2nd weekend gross out of any of the Potter releases, it's dropped slightly from it's #2 Opening due to weak weekday grosses (school holidays not out yet). Should stabilise over the next few weeks even if it has to face competition like Narnia 3 this coming weekend.
This is the 6th largest 2nd weekend of all-time. Very good signs, $30m will be cracked this coming weekend and $40m looks pretty good with Christmas coming up. It should be at or around HP6's gross eventually.

Re: HARRY POTTER 7-1: Deathly Hallows (INTL.) - $608.3m (#56
£33,257,880 after its second weekend in UK. The weekend itself was £8,344,776 (down 54%).
For comparison, grosses after the 2nd weekend:
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - £33,070,181 (coming off a £5,176,950 weekend) Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - £30,062,094 (coming off a £6,639,973 weekend) Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - £29,624,592 (coming off a £9,275,599 weekend) Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - £31,557,411 (coming off a £4,391,262 weekend) Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - £30,041,516 (coming off a £7,313,056 weekend) Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - £29,143,532 (coming off a £8,362,749 weekend)
Yeah, £50+ million looks extremely likely now.

midweek update. Quote: Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 1 will have too much for the international competition as it begins to climb towards $500m.
The children’s fantasy crossed $400m by the end of Tuesday [Nov 30] and currently stands at more than $401.1m. The last territory to open will be South Korea on December 16. its weekdays have been just ok. I guess it will be around 465-470M by this sunday.

Re: HARRY POTTER 7-1: Deathly Hallows (INTL.) - $628.6m (#50
In just 2 full weeks, HP7-I has cracked the Top 50 charts Worldwide, also surpassing Iron Man 2 to become the 6th largest movie WW this year.
By the end of this weekend it should be well above $700m and surpass Eclipse for Top 5 billing.

Re: HARRY POTTER 7-1: Deathly Hallows (INTL.) - $628.6m (#50
FRANCE - Opening Weekend
Easily the largest opening of the year and the first above $20m since last year's HP6. Admissions totals over the 5-Days were also very good and not too far off HP6 and HP4.

JAPAN - Weekend 2
HP7 has performed spectacularly the past week, it's 2nd weekend hold was very strong and has turned a $3.1m deficit as at the end of last weekend into a $0.3m deficit this weekend compared to HP6. This gives me great confidence that HP7-I will surpass HP6's $85m finish. With the holidays coming up, i will not rule out a return to $100m.

GERMANY - Weekend 2
Falls behind LOTR2 and Ice Age 3 after 2 weekends but is looking pretty good compared to HP6. It managed to stay above $10m and dropped less than 50%.

AUSTRIA - Weekend 2
In neighbouring Austria its much the same, with HP7-1 hot on the heels of HP6. Could well turn out to be the biggest release here in US$ for the franchise, needs at least $6.25m to beat HP6.

CIS/RUSSIA - Weekend 2
This is one of the few markets where HP7 was demoted from the #1 spot, tangled by Tangled which had an awesome $8m+ opening. HP7 is clearly well in front of any other Potter releases and sits just below Eclipse at this stage. Down less than 60% (which given its opening last weekend is truly superb) and still above $5m. It's about to pass Megamind which in its 5th week lost 80% of its screens and crashed by 92% for the weekend, total is just below $22m.

POLAND - Weekend 2
Managed to stay above $1m for the weekend and looks much stronger than HP6 at this point. Needs $8.25m to overtake Alice in Wonderland for the #2 spot this year, Shrek 4's total of $16.5m+ is definately out of reach.

Yep, HP7-1 does have to wait for Christmas to catch up... And I'm sure HP7-1 will add at least 200,000 admissions next July with Double Features...

Overall it seems good that HP7.1 has much softer drops than HPB. It should end up slightly ahead of it overall it seems.

Re: HARRY POTTER 7-1: Deathly Hallows (INTL.) - $628.6m (#50
INTERNATIONAL - Weekend 2
Positions stayed pretty much the same since HP7-1 blasted off with a thumping $205m opening weekend (4th largest start of all-time)....however, its clear to see who's the odd one out in the Top 5.....Avatar storming to the top with a massive $152m 2nd weekend.
Weekly totals have pushed HP7-1 above the $400m mark but will need a cracking 3rd weekend hold to surpass HP6's $492.3m total by Sunday. I'm thinking its total by Sunday would be closer to around $465-470m.
The Top 10 Largest Intl. grosses is now made up of $640m+ grosses, with the success of Alice In Wonderland and Toy Story 3 bumping HP6 out of the Top 10. The real targets to beat are HP5's $646m and then HP1's $658m, both within reach i think.
Based on the grosses i've seen to date and the holds, its obviously matching HP6 in most markets and more importantly, where its behind in overall grosses after 2 weeks, it's 2nd weekend hold are much better. In addition, coupled with the strong takings in the emerging markets like CIS/Russia, (where it has already raised the Potter record by more than $3m) and a resurgance in Japan i see $640m to be the floor with a 60% chance of knocking off HP1's total.

Yep, 3D will add that bit extra as well, if it ends up with say $650m in its first run, i see it making at least $20m out of its 2nd run. Can you imagine, if HP7-1 is performing this well despite IMO a lack of real action, HP7-II is going to be a cracker. it's obvious that all the big scenes are in the last one, $700m is pretty much a lock. ROTK may finally not be lonely anymore in the $700m range (yes, i'm looking at Alice in Wonderland, Ice Age and Toy Story 3)
