Re: The Avatar(Avatanic) Prediction | Tracking Thread
A number of high schools don't start up until Tuesday. So a big drop today wouldn't surprise me. ROTk dropped 9.6% on the first Tuesday of the new year, so a drop around that for Avatar wouldn't be too shocking.

Nazgul9 wrote: *lol* from an increase to -14% decrease... Got some data you want to share? Two reasons. Initially I got quite excited to see the Monday numbers and perhaps that had something to do with the initial increase I guessed. But then I backtracked to some the box office of some major films from similar days of past years where Jan 1st as been a Friday or a Saturday. The second reason was a number of people I know took Monday off as having Jan. 1st on Friday really does make taking Monday off as well seem all the more tempting to a lot of people. Predicting Avatar's daily numbers really can end up anywhere, but I thought I'd be cautious, so that Avatar can surprise upward yet again!

Re: The Avatar(Avatanic) Prediction | Tracking Thread
I was late with my prediction. It would have sucked anyways. In 1998, everything but kids/family movies increased, but the large increases might have been a result of the weekend storm. Last year a real hodge podge with increases and decreases but k/f films were hardest hit. I thought I would help BJ out. Let BJ know if I forgot your prediction. BJ can do the % and avg. if he wants. Good luck everyone. Avatar will only be 60 mil behind TDK after this weekend! TDK made 50 mil in its 4th week as a whole (from 18th day-24th day). Avatar SHOULD make 90 at the least.
Its a practical lock to catch TDK at this point. Avatar vs Titanic is the real debate i concur it has excellent chance of beating tdk, how on earth would avatar make 90m next week( 18-24). its past new year when week days would be weak plus its weekend hold wont be that insane considering new year weekend is inflated. mdana wrote: Shack wrote: Avatar should be at 340 mil after 17 days. You really think coming off an inflated week of "non"-holidays that Avatar will only drop from $127m to $90m, a 29% drop? I don't think so. Sometimes, the crazed man speaks the truth! (especially when it comes to Avatar *looks at BJ*)

$41,117,030 for the weekend... a conservative $15 million more than TDK on its 4th weekend
