It also took the Hulk awhile to surface. I would say it'll be 30 minutes before they get their powers. I do not trust reviews from AICN, which is why I didn't even bother replying to that review posted, and I don't really trust imdb much more, but here are some reviews, and these reviews look promising, and these reviews give more depth, as if the person may have actually seen it, unlike that AICN review. Take it all with a grain of salt.

With a length over 2 hours I'm guessing that it'll take at least 30 minutes for them to go on the space mission where the accident occurs and they gain their powers. Then another period of time before one turns evil, though there likely will be signs from the get-go that the character that will become Dr. Doom is evil/a jerk.

I'm definitely sold on this now and have put aside my nitpicks about the budget and FX cause it sounds like it will be a blast.. The romance and humor will propel thia at the box office leaving BATMAN and the WB in the dust and forcing the WB to ace Nolan for the sequel in favor of a director that can inject some humor in this all too serious movie.. I'm there Baby!! FLAME ON!! =D>

No I won't come around! I can see it getting $50 million, but not $60 million!
The only way it will do something like that is if War of the Worlds doesn't pass $250 million. There's no big blockbusters past WOTW, but I think the late summer movie to do well will be Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, not Fantastic Four.

This movie is having marketing I haven't seen in a LONG time! The more I see of it, the more I think it'll make...
I'm thinking upwards of 75 mil opening weekend with between a 2.5 and 3 multiplier

I have to admit that the marketing has stepped up significantly. Every time I turn on the TV, there is another spot. So I am staring to think it can open to maybe 50 mill, not sold on 60 yet.

I just don't think I will come around Mav. I don't think F4 is well known enough to warrant a 60 mill opening.

I'm more convinced now than ever before.
This could honestly have a bigger opening weekend than War of the Worlds.
Going out on al imb here: I think it could beat WOTW's total.
But it's too early to tell.

Im not yet sure but I start to believe it can do it (As said not yet).
It will all depend on the opening of WOTW. If WOTW will underpeform then your 60+ are realistic. I mean at least 1 time people have to go in cinema this summer. And this movie can be FF4.
But im still not sure. It still can underperform like so many openers this year.

So here a analysis that a guy wrote at superherohype.
QUOTE
I'd like to see FF make at least $54 million in it's opening weekend. I figured if X-Men opened at $54 million on July 14, 2000 and it was the first time the comic had been introduced to the public outside of comic book fans. I would think that FF should be able to do the same.
However there are a few factors that could keep it from opening in the $50+ million range. One factor is the current box office slump. If Batman Begins which is probably a more known hero couldn't make more than $47 million last weekend then I don't know if FF can. Secondly, X-Men maybe more popular with comic fans than FF so it may not be fair for me to think that FF can equal X-Men 1 box office opening take. Thirdly, if WOW does well there still may be residual business that may eat into FF opening weekend BO.
If FF does have a good opening weekend, I'm afraid that The Wedding Crashers and Willy Wonka the following weekend will keep FF from being the #1 film in it's second weekend.
All in all I think if FF makes at least $150 domestically, then that'll satify FOX in going ahead with a sequel. The original X-Men movie domestic gross was $157 million. Basically I think FOX is trying to establish the franchise and hope to make a killing in the sequel like X2.

Somebody mentioned also that Patrick Steward got more Trekkies into the movie than Alba will bring auxiliary horny freaks.

A quick comment on the X-Men, and hopefully, this is going to turn the lightbulb on for anybody who is still on the fence about Fantastic Four making 60 million.
X-Men opened in only 3,025 theaters, and if you adjust the gross with 2004 ticket prices, it grossed over 63 million on opening weekend. We all know that ticket prices have gone up a lot since last year. X-Men didn't have anywhere near the promotions and marketing that Fantastic Four has had, and frontloading was nothing compared to what it is today. X-Men was one of the first big movies that didn't have a multiplyer that was impressive, but frontloading wasn't a handy catch phrase back then like today.

Two more weeks and FF4 will eat crow. When I say eat crow I mean make abou 40m, which should be about everyones expectations for the movie, not these crazy 60m ones.

If this film does really well, then I think Jessica Alba could bit pay dirt. She looks to be the only recognizable name in the film and if it goes on the do 150 mill, and then if her sunken treasure movie does well in the fall, that will be three hits in one year for her.

Now why do you feel that it won't make 60 Million in 3 days?? The FF4 is certainly as well known as SPIDERMAN is, it has female appeal, it has humor which BATMAN sorely lacked and doesn't take itself overly serious.. I certainly feel there is a possibility, I stress, POSSIBILITY that it could, so you never know..

Im convinced this will be the No.3 movie of the summer. We are looking past $200m. Seriously - I think the BO slump will help. WOTW will get the ball rolling and FF$ will be in all the news reports as the savior of the summer as that will be the first week the BO will increase on last year.
Im a fan of the F4 and a year ago - I seriously doubted this will pass $120m. Now after seeing the incredible marketing - Fox's best since ID4 in 96 - Ive changed my mind. Here in Oz - the whole F4 gang did tv show after tv show. Billboards are everywhere - more than any other film this year even more than Star Wars. People are saying they actually want to see it - even when they hardly knew about F4. Im 26 and half my friends are saying they want to see this. Most of the guys will see this for Alba alone. She is by far the biggest star in this film. Its looks fun and light entertainment.
Even Steven Speilberg said he will take his kids.
F4 and WOTW will save the summer.
Mav - you will be vindicated and your bo predicting streak will only be enhanced.
Chalk this one up for $70m opening!
