I believe it trumps Avatar, Inception etc. You're mad if you think it will reach $79m on opening. It will be lucky to get $55m.

Re: Interstellar Domestic Predictions Gravity probably quenched that thirst, so another film about it will not be met with huge demand. Actually, Gravity is a perfect example. Ten times better marketing and more pent up interest and it could only manage $55m opening. People predicting high total grosses for Interstellar, while I disagree, they are still possible. But the enormous openings are just dreams and will never happen.

I do think Big Hero 6 opening with 75 million would be more impressive than Interstellar opening that high, but I think Interstellar is more likely to do that.
