Constantine currently has a 43% at Rotten Tomatoes. Not good considering this weekend isn't over yet.

Seriously, I'm gonna up my predictions. Really, when was the last time we had a full-blown, special effetcs-laden popcorn blockbuster? Lemony Snicket doesn't count as it is more for kids, Blade: Trinity is a part of an already an established franchise released at a wrong time and on a wrong day (wednesday...)...I am not even sure if National Treasure fits into that category... The TV spots are very effective and so are the trailers, especially the much better international trailer.

Opening weekend (3-day) - $27.4 million

Total gross - $72 million

I just hope people in America are as smart as those international people.

I don't really follow international numbers, but I do remember that The Day After Tomorrow opened with the exact number as it did internationally, but that was also the same weekened. I really have no clue.

I don't expect it to be huge but should open decently. I've been surprised by friends telling me lately that they really want to see this.

And it also opened worldwide. This could easily have grossed $25-$30 million internationally if it had been released in more markets.

At Metacritic, its at 74%. I was expecting the movie to be below 50% but Im expecting something less than 60% at RT. It would surprise me if the movie gets above 60%. Maybe its a sign that it would have a good multiplier

Anything about 30% or so would be good for a movie of this kind, this isn't Sideways. I'm amazed it had 56% at last check, for a comic book horror action movie? That's high.

The buzz has been so positive thus far, I'll be surprised if this opens under $20 million.

Rotten Tomatoes - 58% Rotten (7 Fresh, 5 Rotten)

"More than just sexy looks, Constantine is a well-rounded, near perfect comic film." - IGN

IGN's Review: http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/584/584287p1.html (**** 1/2)

That's one of the highest grades they've ever given (if not the highest) for this type of movie.

Since its overseas gross is breaking records like in the top 5 of all openers in Singapore and Hong Kong, I dont think you are too far off. Hopefully the americans will have the same taste as the asians overboard

It would be awesome if it were the next The Matrix, but that's probably unlikely. It needs to have a big opening with incredible legs and WOM to get to the level of The Matrix. However, I still believe it'll be a hit.

In terms of box office or quality?

Either way, I think it has a chance of doing both, though Speed is one of the best action movies ever made.
