There could be a worse choices than Everyone's Hero, if they pump Reeve's name and promote it with the World Series, it could do well. It'll be the first animated film in a while, actually since Barnyard, so a 20 mil+ opening weekend like Monster House is likely with the possibility of higher. I think Gridiron Gang would be a better choice though, the demographics would be closer. Either way this is still a disaster, obviously.

Trailer premiere with Snakes on a Plane?
Hollywood seems to be making up for the recent Eragon trailer movie hoax. A representative from Fox 2000 has let Shur'tugal know that Eragon's trailer debut is "now targeted to Snakes on a Plane, releasing August 18th."
While the movie is not yet rated, it does seem very likely that Snakes on a Plane will be released with an R rating. What's this mean for those of you who're too young to get into an R-rated movie, or better yet, just aren't interested in seeing a movie about snakes... on a plane? Fox has also told us that movie trailers generally make their debut on the internet a day earlier than in theaters, meaning we can expect the trailer online on August 17th. We'll keep you updated!

I cant believe they would put Eragon with the Covenant. I mean the Covenant without announcing its a movie, I could have sworn the trailer for that looked like some WB show or a Kevin Williamson series.
They need to stick Eragon with one of their season premiere Fox shows like Simpsons, Family Guy,AI or Prison Break

I don't know what is up with it, but they've just alterted exhibitors that FLICKA will be taking the place of ERAGON on
Everyone's Hero.
Flicka is now the first Fox film planned to have the ERAGON trailer.
It is looking more and more likely they're going to kick this one out of 2006.

It's the first Fox film to have the trailer? Or just the first film, in general?
Yeah, I think what I said a few weeks ago might be right. It's looking likely that it'll get pushed back, but to when, I can't figure out. If it's 2007, I could see it bombing.

hmm - good call.
There just isnt anywhere in 2007 to release it.
President's Day has Ghostrider and co.
March/April will have TMNT and Robinsons.
The holiday season has way too much fantasy already.
So that leaves Summer and it just wont survive in the summer unless Shrek 3 moves and they try and get in a decent weekend before POTC3 comes out - but this is very unlikely.

This better not move to 2007, holiday-2006 looks sad at the momment....this could do really well overseas if it opens in December.
Why can't it be like last year when we had HP4, Narnia and King Kong....what a bunch.......or in 2002 when we had HP2 and TTT, or 2001 when we had HP1 and FOTR or in 2004 when we had Meet The Fockers, The Incredibles and Phantom of the Opera ( )

Why the hell is it so hard to market it? This one seems like one of the easiest movies to market...ever. Just put in battle scenes, dragon scenes and epic music and you've got yourself a hit!

They dropped the ball by not at least releasing a teaser with Pirates2. Someone mentioned
putting the trailer with a fall TV series premiere. I think this is the best route. Don't bother
putting the trailer in theaters until there is a big film with the same audience. Put the trailer
during the season premiere of a big TV show (this was done with Narnia and Kong last year,
the trailer debuting on TV).
If this film doesn't gross at least 300M worldwide, someone should be fired. That should be
an easy total for Eragon to hit. It really should, based on it's genre, go much higher than that.
It has the potential to gross that much or more just internationally. I'm starting to get worried
though.

Well here it is the Eragon trailer, kind of. There's no audio and it's from some other country.

It's pretty close to what they showed at San Diego Comic Con (I would say less than 5% changed) and was part of
the Eragon Vivendi Universal Booth in Germany.

It's hard to make a judgement on a crappy quality trailer shot from a TV screen, but...
It didn't look awful, but it looked pretty cheap and cheesy. A poor man's LOTR is indeed what it looked like. A very poor man's. I do think that it might be fun, but it looks like a cheesier and campier version of Dragonheart, which doesn't exactly make it a potential hit.

Actually I thought it looks pretty good. The problem with Eragon, unlike any other dragon
movie, is that a huge amount of screen time goes to the dragon and Eragon on screen
at the same time. That can't be easy to do, but because the dragon is on screen so much
(presumably at least), it is very important to make sure it's well done because people will
pick apart the effects.
That said, the dragon effects didn't seem any better or worse than Potter 4, Reign of Fire, or
Dragonheart. But this was a low quality transfer with no sound, so I am more optimistic
than I was before viewing it.

It actually looked pretty good. I'm imagining a T-Rex a la Jurassic Park Roar at the end of the trailer. I hope it's loud enought to give me chills. I miss the good old days when movie theatres didn't care about the condition of your ears at the end of the movie. There was this one theatre (Uptown in Toronto) that got burned down, but it was my favourite theatre. THe sound was so loud that the THX music used to vibrate the seats. Sorry for going offtopic. lol. But I just had a sudden urge of nostalgia.

Well, Gridiron Gang should pull in a decent audience, so it's not a horrible choice.
I hope the trailer is awesome, but my expectations aren't high anymore.
