With China contributing around $30m alone (i assume) it should hit $100m or else you can kiss $2b goodbye.

Toy Story 3, Shrek 4 are going to be the members in billion dollar club Ice Age 3 was this year. Fox had one hell of a year overseas between those two and Alvin pulling in great OS numbers as well.

 Re: Avatar (INTL.) - $1,131,752,464 Worldwide (#2)
AVATAR IS THE 2nd HIGHEST GROSSING HOLLYWOOD FILM IN INDIA BEATING SM3!Quote: James Cameron’s epic adventure ‘Avatar’ is making waves at the global box office with a collection of USD 1.1 billion. The film has done exceptional business in India too with a collection of Rs 74 crores in just 3 weeks, already making it the 2nd biggest Hollywood film ever in India!
While multiplexes across India had been upgrading their infrastructure to go 3D in anticipation of good revenues from Avatar, the outstanding collections have surpassed all their expectations!
Looking at the scene in India before and after the release of Avatar, the no of 3D screens has seen an increase from 12 screens to over 50 screens registering a growth of over 300%.
The collections from the 3D screens is more than encouraging – with 54 3D screens (9%) contributing to 35% of the total three week box office collection in India.
Aditya Shroff of Fame Cinemas says, “Avatar 3D collections in Fame cinemas across India is 100% even in week 2, and this will continue in the coming weeks as well”.
“Our exhibition partners need to be congratulated for responding quickly to the opportunity thrown up by Avatar. A 300% increase in the number of 3D screens over a 5 month period in time for the opening of Avatar is just spectacular and speaks volumes of their entrepreneurial vision. And the results are there for all to see”, said Mr Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios India.
Devang Sampat, Senior VP, Cinemax India Ltd. Said, “ONE 3D movie recovers all Digital & 3D projector expenses. Only James Cameron’s can do this. Even with a strong Bollywood competition, Avatar has been generating almost 100% occupancy in 3D screen in 3rd week & demand is just increasing!”
Mr Amitabh Vardhan, CEO PVR Cinemas adds, “James Cameron’s latest work, Avatar has resulted in a movie that is breathtaking to say the least. The movie is a huge step in 3D movie technology and the Indian audience has received it very well and we have been witnessing full houses over weekends and even on weekdays.”
Avatar is not only giving strong competition to Bollywood films, but is also affecting business of local superstar films in South India.
“People from all over Malabar are flocking in to watch this spectacle. Bookings are happening for a week in advance. The last time such a phenomenon happened was in 1997 for Titanic” said Mr Vinod , Partner, Crown Theatre, Calicut.
Mr Gireesh Chandran, Proprietor, Sree Padmanabha Theatre, Trivandrum says, “At a time where film piracy is rampant and footfalls going down, Avatar has brought back that audience with its sheer cinematic experience and magic. The kind of demand for the movie is phenomenal. This year barring few Malayalam movies no movie has set the local box office on fire. Avatar has really made the audience to flock back into the theatres. Even non English audiences are lured into the world of Avatar. It’s been a pretty long time that an Eng movie completes 75 or 100 days in Kerala. I think this will do it.”
Avatar has not only been performing well in cities but is also running houseful in the smaller towns like Lucknow, Jalandar, Patana, Gwalior, Saharanpur…
The film released in India on Dec 18 in 3D (English, Hindi & Tamil) & 2D (English, Hindi, Tamil & Telugu) and is clearly on its way to becoming the biggest Hollywood film ever in India.
And given the extraordinary revenues generated by the 3D screens, Avatar brings in hopes of promising business for upcoming 3D films in India! http://www.boxofficeindia.com/npages.ph ... &nCat=newsExcellent news all around. AVATAR's performance in India till now (in brackets are the grosses from 3D screens): Week 1: $8.5m ($2.1m) Week 2: $3.8m ($1.9m) Week 3: $3.6m ($1.8m) Total: $15.9m The 3D version is doing amazingly well. It has a pretty good chance of beating 2012's 20+M

http://www.screendaily.com/news/distrib ... 73.articleFox International’s juggernaut currently stands at $760.9m and, for the record, has amassed $370.8m in North America. The weekend session is sure to bring with it the latest round of records and indeed James Cameron’s sci-fi opera beat the Chinese opening day mark earlier this week on $5.3m. To date the tally in China stands at $14.4m after a mere three days. While the film has set a ferocious pace virtually everywhere, there have been particularly notable grosses in France ($90.2m), Russia ($62.4m), Germany ($62.9m), the UK ($58.1m), Spain ($51.8m), Australia ($50.2m), South Korea ($49.6m), and Japan ($42.8,). Elsewhere Avatar stands at $24.9m in Mexico, $23,7m in Brazil, $15.7m in India, $14.8m in Taiwan, $10.3m in Holland, $9.7m in Poland, $9.5m in Denmark, $8m in Greece, $7m in Turkey, $6m in Thailand, $5m in Malaysia, and $3.8m in the UAE

Given the nature of the movie (action) and the hype it generated I think it can even cross France at this rate

 Re: Avatar (INTL.) - $1,131,752,464 Worldwide (#2)
Very impressive numbers from around the world Like I expected Avatar will add 205-210k adm in weekdays and should make 260k+ during weekend in Poland. It should be at 1,47M+ adm after the weekend ( almost beats 2012 in adm. in just 17 days ). With Winter break coming it should have very low drops on weekdays for a month of time and good weekends. As for total I think that: 2M adm is now 100% sure, 2,5M is 80% and 3M is 50%.

Yeah, great numbers. I'm upping my UK prediction to around £50million now, with £55m possible depending on this weekend's hold. That'd put it easily inside the top 10 all time in £'s.

Given that it had above 20M weekdays, 70M this weekend is a lock. I think it has a good chance at making another 90M. 100M is far sight, though it would be great if it can get that
