Wow, either
A)The Marine is doing really good to be almost tied with the Grudge's review numbers despite a highe ratio for Marine
B)The Grudge is doing really bad to almost have the same amount of reviews as the Marine
C)Once again yahoo reviews is messing up again

It's WWE fanboys going to town how else to explain a B grade?

Marine might be doing better-than-expected (and if it does, I'll hate myself for changing my prediction drastically this morning), but it's still early. We'll get a better idea in the 7:30PM EST update, which is generally the final "unclogging."

I don't get it. Is the Marine doing this well? Or is this some glitch? Because if these numbers are correct, then it is on pace to come close to Grudge?

It could have a ratio 3 times greater than GRUDGE 2 due to WWE fanboys.

What does that mean..."a higher ratio?"

It means the number of reviews that equals a million dollars. If the Grudge has a ratio of 70 (which is probably a little low), it's made around $2 million. If The Marine has a ratio of 120, then it's made under a million. The higher the ratio, the smaller the gross.

The Grudge 2 367, +206, C+
Man of the Year 146, +87, C+
The Marine 316, 272 Friday, +157, B (up from B-)
One Night with the King 171, 101 Friday, +56, A-
I just realized Marine had 44 for the first update, so I deducted it from the total for the Friday number; same for One Night.

$8m is probably what we're looking at.

The Grudge 2 has been pretty back-loaded. May get $9m, but still think $8.5m is more likely.

It'll be interesting to see what The Grudge's ratio is. It wouldn't surprise me if it's a bit higher than Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning's.

Hopefully when Grudge 2 has the lower-than-expected Friday it is destined for, the studios will learn not to make inane PG-13 horror any longer.
I also think it's safe to say that whatever Japanese horror remake craze there might have been is now dead beyond debate.

Even at $10m, the best case scenario is a $24-27m weekend that just about everyone pegged it at. Quite a drop from The Grudge's $39 million.

I agree. I think its ratio will be higher than TCM's last weekend, but not by much. Crowd reports and pacing point to backloading. It can still do $25M-27M this weekend, IMO.
