France– $22.4m from 1,118 for $85.6m (confirmed).
Germany– $11.2m from 1,143 for $56.1m (confirmed).
Spain– $9.9m for $46.9m (confirmed)
UK– $9.3m following 49% drop for $53m
Australia– $8.81m following 10% climb for $44.3m.
Russia– $8.5m for $55m.
South Korea – $5.4m for $44.7m.
Japan has generated $36.2m (I think it's about 34m though based on today's news)
Mexico– $4.7m for $23.6m.
Brazil– $4.5m for $21.3m.
Hong Kong – $2.6m for $10.4m
India– $2.2m for $14.5m
Taiwan– $1.97m for $14.1m.

I think the unconfirmed were weekend estimates, maybe.

Actuals are in from the UK and it increased 55% on last weekend to £5,940,479 for a total of £32,815,618 which is an increase on the estimates.

Seeing all the big numbers everywhere makes the Dutch box office result so far just... disappointing. It has yet to break $10 million here. With nearly 17 million inhabitants (the third most populous of Europe's smaller markets, behind Poland and Romania) you'd expect we could at least outdo Hong Kong...

Here's how it breaks down in USD (weekdays are mon-wed, weekends are thurs-sun):

Avatar's performance in the Netherlands

Previews: $219.028
Total after Week 1: $3.280.791 ($1.657.367 OWknd, $1.404.397 Mo-Wed)
Total after Week 2: $7.533.533 ($2.143.462 2nd Wkdn (+29%), $2.109.280 Mo-Wed (+50%))
Total after Weekend 3: $9.379.632 ($1.846.099 3rd Wknd (-14%))

All-Time (euro's)

33 MAMMA MIA! THE MOVIE € 6.616.118,00
34 MATRIX RELOADED THE € 6.595.374,00
35 PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN THE € 6.581.593,00
36 ALADDIN € 6.551.592,00
37 AVATAR € 6.519.383,00
38 WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH THE € 6.391.042,00
39 NOTTING HILL € 6.371.402,00

So what went wrong there in Dutch? This is the first time I am hearing Avatar down in one of the overseas merket and it looks like huge disappointment as it seems nowhere near success

Well it's not doing terribly, it's just not doing so awesomely record breaking as it is in many other markets. When compared to other movies released in 2009 here, it's doing pretty well:

1. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince €11.340.136
2. Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs €8.987.891
3. Komt een Vrouw bij de Dokter €7.286.467 (local film, still in release)
4. Avatar €6.519.383
5. Up €6.032.309

(Euros, since converting stuff to dollars just doesn't work well when comparing films released during different times of the year...)

It's only been in release for three weeks, and has #2 of the year pretty much in the bag. I just want it to beat HP6 and end up in the all-time top 10. :glare:

Well Avatar started slow in Canada and now is on track to get 60 million dollars and beat ROTK for all time gross.

Hmm but with all time 37 in the list it looked really bad. I think so it will break HP's record soon enough. Thanks evil (lesser? :D). Go Avatar  (Damn this is becoming my slogan these days :D)

I think I just made it look really bad, just because it doesn't compare to performances in the USA, France, Russia and China for example.

It would have looked better if I'd added its position on the all-time chart here after weekend #2:

116 MATRIX THE € 3.781.326,00
117 FLINTSTONES  THE € 3.779.715,00
118 AVATAR € 3.770.167,00
119 HORSE WHISPERER  THE € 3.742.643,00
120 MR. & MRS. SMITH € 3.725.931,00

Jumping from 118 to 37 MIGHT not be completely horrible. >.>

Should overtake ROTK by the start of Friday. This is beyond madness. And it's only like $10m away from ROTK's overseas takings.
