 Re: Hunger Games Sellout Watch
m051293, Annapolis seemed to have quite a few sellouts. You should've included those theatres.

 Re: Hunger Games Sellout Watch
Went from one sellout too 5 sellouts in the last hour, standard Anchorage behavior, I expect another 5+ sellouts within the next 3.5 hours, for some reason thats just how things roll here.
The 5 sold out represent a new record for a non-sequel here.
Previous record was Twilight.

Yeah, I considered adding the Annapolis theaters as well as looking into Baltimore, but I figured I wanted to stay within the DC Metropolitan area as much as I could, as then I'd start expanding Virginia's numbers out to Stafford and then it would just start to get too extensive to track. I'll probably include more theaters for the next big film though.

 Re: Hunger Games Sellout Watch
8 shows sold out at my theater. The ninth still shows up as having tickets available but I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being sold out or at least damn close.

 Re: Hunger Games Sellout Watch
http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118051818Quote: 'Games' on with early midnight returns at $25 mil
Late-nights in line with latest 'Twilight' pic
By ANDREW STEWART
Early returns from Thursday midnight screenings of "The Hunger Games" are tracking north of $25 million, validating predictions of an outsized hit for Lionsgate's biggest bet yet.
More bullish estimates peg midnight grosses at $30 million, which would put "Hunger Games" in line with what "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" earned in midnights: $30.3 million. The penultimate "Twilight" pic grossed $138.1 million in its first three days domestically.
But by no means is a commensurate bounty for "Games" in the bag: Bizzers are conservatively estimating a $120 million- $125 million three-day haul.
Why? For one thing, "Breaking Dawn" played around the moviegoing heights of Thanksgiving to a crowd that's attracted to opening weekend; for another, "The Hunger Games" has an older audience that will catch it when crowds subside.
One thing "The Hunger Games" has going for it: "Breaking Dawn" bowed at 3,521 late-night locations, while "Games," which has midnight and 3 a.m. Imax screenings, will screen at an approximate total 4,100 engagements throughout the weekend.

 Re: Hunger Games Sellout Watch
That is a good sign with the huge Friday evening pre sales and rather impressive sales on Saturday it should easily double its opening day number.

 Re: Hunger Games Sellout Watch
30 million midnights would be insane, especially since it's going to do very well for the rest of Friday.
Saw a midnight showing and the audience was into it. I don't really get what my theater did as my showing wasn't completely full but we had several sold out shows...

 Re: Hunger Games Sellout Watch
25-30 million is the range and that is bigger then DH1 and as big as New Moon.
Based of that opening weekend of 125-145 million is the range.

 Re: Hunger Games Sellout Watch
Even if it is "only" $25 million, then I see no less than $135 million for the opening weekend. Given likely solid WoM and less frontloading than for the Twilight sequels, that'd also pretty much guarantee our first $300+ million film of 2012.

The ammount of showtimes is just insane. There are cinemas that are having showtimes every 15 minutes

 Re: Hunger Games Sellout Watch
I'm actually seeing quite a few sellouts for it today. Most are after 7:00, but I also see some for early showings like before 5:00. I haven't seen that many early sellouts since DH2, so it is definitely going to explode today.

 Re: Hunger Games Sellout Watch
I can't even keep up with sellouts anymore. Each theater is playing this on 35+ showtimes, with at least one, Tysons AMC, playing this on over 40.
Expect more 12AM and 1AM shows to be added as the day progresses

 Re: Hunger Games Sellout Watch
After 7Pm the sellouts are just epic... Just to many to count but easily on par with the big openers.
If it gets 71 million it would break Spiderman 3 record for biggest day business...
however lets not get to ahead of ourselves.

 Re: Hunger Games Sellout Watch
Heck 56 sellouts and around around 5 shows pretty much sold out = 61...
I think that it is a solid result as the film is on more screens then I can remember for recent films.
Saturday Business looks to be big.. 12:50 PM show 60% sold 4:10 Pm show 60% sold 7:30 PM show 65% sold 10:30 Pm show 40% sold
