I thought it'd be interesting to look at what a potential Titanic topper would have had to make in each of the years since its release, to match its domestic gross, but in terms of the 1997 dollar. (Ex. $600 m in 2005 would be _ much in 1997).

So we're coming to a point, where in the next two years, the film that could top Titanic, might not even have been able to top $400 m in Titanic's year. Oh, that inflation!

I'd prefer to deal with estimated tickets sold, it sort of puts everything on a level playing field instead of making a big leap forward or backwards.

The original poster was pulled stuff of thin air regarding the three items he mentioned. No movie makes over $250M without a good chunk of all three items.

2 years ago when I started predicting over 400m I thought it had a 1% chance. Earlier this year at 515m I gave it 20%. This week 30%. Now with the way it's selling I think it's more likely then not. Yes, I said it, I think this will probably beat Titanic.

Yeah, you might attribute this to my getting carried away with the hype and sellouts, but seriously it might beat Sith midnight and is having the best ever online ticket sales. And it's not a fanboy film, which puts it so far ahead of everything I can't even fathom it.

If it gets over 65m Friday you all need to start considering it.
