What's POTC 2 running time?? Over 2 Hours??? I think Directors feel that it must be cool to have a movie 3 hours in length to make it look like they have something EPIC going...

It depends on the film. Collateral had the perfect running time, I never felt bored. Films like X3 felt too short, The Da Vinci Code felt too long, Cars felt long, and I almost killed myself watching The New World.
I think 2 hours for Miami Vice should be perfect.

It really depends on the movie, yes. If it has alot of story and needs to make a point then absolutely a long running time is needed, some of the best movies ever made are pretty damn long, but movies like SR, PotC, and Vice? Not needed, and look most the problems people have with all three films are the running times. Summer blockbusters shouldnt be anymore then 2hrs long. I'd always rather have a shoter movie that never felt boring then a longer movie that bored me to the point of taking me out of the experience.

It is good for the movie and its box-office to have a running time of "just" 128 minutes as opposed to 150, but I still hope myself that we will get to see the director's cut eventually. Should be very interesting, especially for this kind of a film.
On another note, I start thinking that the movie might actually outdo some expectations and do pretty well. I think the marketing campaign is good so far and we haven't had a large-scale, serious buddy cops flick for a while now. It has no direct compettiion in the weeks upon its release either. For now, I will raise my prediction.
Opening weekend - $37 million
Total gross - $106 million

Very cool.. I wish Mann would put "In the Air Tonight" somehow in the movie, not only to tie it in a little better to the series, but Christ, it's an awesome tune.. I guess Nick At Night TV Land took MIAMI VICE off it's schedule, probably cause it didn't mesh well with the other family oriented programming.. It's not exactly the sort of show I would put on TV LAND to.. Maybe something like SPIKE TV or USA..

Well, Prada is the first big pleasant surprise of the summer, and I think Vice will be the second. Aside from its opening weekend (I agree 35 plus), I think it will have esxceptional legs and marginal competition in August. I see it going well past 100 million. Past 135, actually.
I really hope this finally puts Gong Li's name in the American household where her face has already been for decades.

But if you want the one with the car i'll do it.

Quote: Miami Vice Soundtrack Buzz Music is in the air tonight. by Stax
June 30, 2006 - According to Blabbermouth.net, the soundtrack of the forthcoming big-screen version of Miami Vice will feature a cover of a song made famous by (and which is synonymous with) the 1980s TV classic.
The site claims that Nonpoint's cover of the Phil Collins song "In the Air Tonight" will be featured prominently in the new Michael Mann-directed movie. Nonpoint's version appeared on their 2004 album "Recoil."
Blabbermouth says Nonpoint's "In the Air Tonight" will be in the movie "for about six-and-a-half minutes. It will be the score for a major scene in the movie and will appear in a new trailer campaign. A video for the song will be filmed next week, and the director for the clip has already been selected."
Can the new Crockett and Tubbs also feel it coming in the air tonight? Click for more images from Miami Vice.
The original Phil Collins song appeared near the end of the pilot episode of Miami Vice as newly partnered narcs Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs raced through nighttime Miami in their Ferrari for a climatic gunfight. It set the tone of the show for the rest of the series and epitomized the "MTV Cops" idea that Vice had been pitched as.
A release date for the new Miami Vice soundtrack has yet to be announced.
I want the original. Might've been money issues, they already spent a ton on the flm, they dont have money to spend to get the rights to Collins song.
