Robin Hood (INTL.) - $216,400,000
Well, like all similar films it might not set the box-office on fire in North America, but the film will be BIG overseas.
Currently, it is scheduled to be released almost all over the world next weekend. Japan is the only big market in which it won't be released then. Not sure whether it'll ever come out in China, though.
The overseas grosses of comparable films:
Troy - $364,031,596 Gladiator - $269,935,000 300 - $245,453,242 Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves - $225,000,000 Kingdom of Heaven - $164,253,638 King Arthur - $151,685,613 Alexander - $133,001,001
Right now I don't see it the heights of Troy, but it should also easily outdo Kingdom of Heaven. Ridley Scott is still a big name afterall and Crowe/Blanchett are more bankable than Orlando Bloom. Prince of Persia arriving just shortly after will hurt it, so I don't see it getting to $300 million. It'll end up somewhere between Gladiator and the last Robin Hood film, I think...I'd say $250 million overseas is looking right.

Re: Robin Hood (INTL.)
Yeah, $250m sounds about right, maybe up to $300m.
Interesting that Gladiator wasn't all that big overseas... (compared to its domestic take)

Interesting that Gladiator wasn't all that big overseas... (compared to its domestic take) I think the overseas box-office just rose immensly throughout the last decade. It became the 20th-biggest movie ever overseas when it was released in 2000.

Not particularly good, to be beaten by IM2 so clearly...

Re: Robin Hood (INTL.)
First day showings in Australia have been ho hum, nowhere near the levels of Iron Man 2, not expecting more than AU$6m here. It definately has showings though averaging at least 12-13 per night in most major cinemas.

Re: Robin Hood (INTL.)
At the theatres close to me, Robin Hood is performing similarly to Iron Man 2 on its first day (however it must be kept in mind that today is a national holiday).

Re: Robin Hood (INTL.)
Yeah.
Troy - 4,429,985 admissions (#6 of 2004) Gladiator - 3,577,844 admissions (#4 of 2000) The Last Samurai - 2,244,052 admissions (#17 of 2003) Kingdom of Heaven - 1,966,845 admssions (#11 of 2005) 300 - 1,666,357 admissions (#16 of 2007) King Arthur - 1,514,497 admissions Alexander - 1,099,246 admissions
Robin Hood will land in the lower part there, obviously, but I still expect around 1.5 million admissions, give or take 100,000.

Re: Robin Hood (INTL.)
'Robin Hood' Opens To $6M In 3 CountriesQuote: The studio released the film in 3 countries yesterday -- France, Belgium, and the French-speaking side of Switzerland -- and did paid previews in a handful of others. France did a big $1.1M. (That's on a par with Mummy 3, 40% ahead of Angels & Demons, 50% ahead of Benjamin Button, and 70% ahead of Sherlock Holmes. What a weird sequence of comps.). Belgium did $200K (136% higher than Iron Man 2, 127% higher than Gladiator, 98% above Inglourious Basterds, 131% higher than Sherlock Holmes). Switzerland was ahead of Gladiator and Sherlock Holmes.
The pic previewed in other markets including the UK, Germany, Italy, Norway, Sweden and several smaller territories. UK did $1.2m which is more than double Bourne Ultimatum, and advance ticket sales for the weekend are said to be "incredibly strong". Russia did $960K. Italy did $660K in limited shows. Germany took in $550K, or 148% of Iron Man 2 and 156% of Iron Man. Austria did $73K from one show per location, 53% more than Gladiator on the same basis. Sweden was 32% ahead of Iron Man 2.

Re: Robin Hood (INTL.)
$250+ million OS is looking quite possible.
But seriously, $200+ million budget?! Universal, WTF?

Well, let's not forget that the movie was greenlighted when the Euro and the Pound were much stronger...

Re: Robin Hood (INTL.)
Opening day (HK):
6,360 - rank: #2
Just slightly ahead of what Legion got on its opening day (5,854). Behind what Clash got on its second Thursday (7,043). I would say that's a pretty disappointing number for it.

That number accounts for 80% of theaters in Hong Kong. I know some theaters charges a HK$10 premium on tickets due to long running time. So its gross will be inflated a bit. My projection is HK$540,000 (or US$70,000) on Thursday. That's 15% higher than Kingdom of Heaven's opening day. P.S. Are you going to do a ticket sales report for Thursday?

P.S. Are you going to do a ticket sales report for Thursday? Thanks for reminding me. All theaters are hiking the prices in some way. Most theaters are charging $10 more while others are charging $5 more. Yes. Weekend Report + Thursday (final) and Friday admissions

Re: Robin Hood (INTL.)
Judging by first day sales RH will deliver the biggest opening of the year (admissions, not b.o.) here in Germany, beating ALICE (should stay No. 1 in b.o. because of 3D)...

Re: Robin Hood (INTL.)
I think the projections might go a bit down because of the holiday yesterday combined with perfect moviegoing weather.
But it certainly looks to top 500,000 admissions opening weekend...something I predicted initially until Iron Man 2 disappointed. My original prediction was 570,000 admissions...
Anyway, with the (currently projected) 625,000 admissions opening, it'll end up getting close to 2 million admissions, IMO.

$74 million OS according to BOG. Solid, but not overwhelming number.

Re: Robin Hood (INTL.) - $74,000,000 Intl. Opening
I thought that this will crack 100M mark for opening weekend being the first time movie after long time from the duo that gave Gladiator. I would say the number is just OK and somewhat disappointing for the movie with 200M budget
