 Sahara Predictions
What are your predictions for Sahara? It looks like a National Treasure wannabe, but I think it'll do okay.

Jeez, BOM has its budget at 130mil. This movie is gonna bomb.
Opening - 17.4
Total - 44.8
Im pretty sure this is that movie that is based on a book and the writer sued the studios because of how bad he thought the movie was, he didnt want his name or anything of that matter on this movie.

I don't see it doing worse then Hidalgo. Good opening, strong legs. Films of this type tend to hold up well.

Agreed. The fact that WOM has been fantastic only helps. Oh, and so ya'll know, this was an independent production that Paramount is just domestically distributing.

I dont know, early buzz is pretty bad i'd say. Not much anticipation for it, just " this looks bad " reactions. The marketing is pretty crappy, Hidalgo didnt have such bad marketing, this just looks flat out generic. Honestly, I wouldnt be surprised if Fever Pitch beats it out for the weekend.

That opening weekend, but less than $30 million. Unless it's an insanely good movie, which is doubtful.

Seems like it will upset fans of the novels but please some moviegoers who just take it on it's own merits.
22m opening, 65 total, and will finally make profit on DVD. This is an almost ideal DVD rental type movie.

Strongly dis-agreed; this movie looks terrible to so, so many people.

It should do ok. It looks like an adventurous fun movie. Also about a year ago, everyone thought Hildalgo would bomb big time but it was able to hold its own after some strong legs. I think people had it pegged under 40 million total. Dont also forget people here were screaming that National Treasure would bomb too but it has made over 150 million dollars. Theres quite alot of interest in adventure flicks like these
I'll say it will open to 24 million and make over 80 million dollars

I'll stick with my predictions. Sahara will not be the next National Treasure. Not even close.

Who actually greenlit this film with a budget like that? Does someone just flip a coin, tales yes, heads no?
What the hell are the odds that it could possibly break-even let alone profit after this kind of budget and all the marketing they have to pump into it and the cut for exhibitors? Fucking spastics are in charge of the studios, I tell ye. Think of all the good movies that could have been made with this money...4 Million Dollar Babys, 3 Sin Citys, 2 Hellboys or a War Of The Worlds.

This movie will suck big time its a good thing that fever pitch comes out the same wknd to pick up this horible films slack, though I dont expect eather to open over 20m [-( they wll both be on the borderlind of absolutely sucking out loud, but fever pitch has a much better shot at not being a disappointment do to its budget which I dont expect to be over 60m. so overall next wknd will such for all films but hte greatness of Sin City

But i have read very good things from people who had actually the chance to see it. So i think the movie will do good business: $25m/$75m.

Looks like I'm going out on a limb with the highest prediction. It should do really good opening weekend, but then I wouldn't be surprised if it dropped like hell because of competition.
Opening - $32 million
Closing - $74 million
