Post I've never been so scared of a Beatles song...
http://jeffmilner.com/backmasking.htm

Go there. Listen to the "I'm So Tired" one. Yeah.

If you listen to it forwards, it actually sounds backwards. And, of course, I wanted to find out what the "Paul is a dead man. Miss him, miss him, miss him" was all about, as it was...random. Turns out, Paul McCartney "died" and the other three Beatles put all these symbols in their four last albums that implied this. Apparently, they replaced McCartney with someone named William.

The "I'm So Tired" one is so frickin' obvious. Just listen to it. Can you make anything out when played forwards? What about when backwards? Exactly.

But, this all makes me wonder. Of course McCartney's alive. It's too tricky to get away with something like that. All it'd take to prove is to go to a McCartney concert with the "look alike"/replacement. Plus, I find it hard to believe that Linda would have kept quiet through all the years. However, what about the symbols? Some of them are just...odd. Apparently, the liscence plate on the Abbey Road cover, the lyrics to Glass Onion, and symbols scattered around everything Sgt. Pepper, all have something to do with Paul McCartney's "death." And, what makes me wonder is...what's the point? To freak people out? There's enough symbols to prove that the Beatles wanted something to be thought of, but I personally find it "sick" to add to a conspiracy theory with freaky subliminal messages.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or serious. I'll spend all night thinking about that, too.

Well, there's only a couple on that site that I actually "buy." Those are the Pink Floyd, Weird Al, and The Beatles ones. I mean, listen to the Queen one. That's so not backmasking.

Oh yeah, the Queen one is sketchy. The Pokemon Rap? Just hilarious.

Pink Floyd, I'm definitely sure have messages in their songs. Which makes them cool. The Beatles ones I've been hearing about since I was in elementary school. And that website with all the "signs" are plain freaky and disgusting at the same time.

Oh, I agree that the idea of McCartney being dead is.

But, listening to the "I'm So Tired" forwards and backwards, I have no doubt that Lennon did record the message forward and put it in backwards. I think that part was on purpose...

Well Lennon was a hippy, hippies try to brainwash people into their beliefs. Now I'm being serious here and I'm not just going off on one of those random anti-hippy rants.

Most of the "backwards" lyrics are more psychological then reality. If you read the lyrics you can occasionally hear the message, though how much of that is your brain working is not certain.

As far as the websites, it is odd. What are you trying to say by all of this though?

torrino, if you really want to hear some messed up stuff, read Helter Skelter, which is probably my favorite book ever. It's the story of Charles Manson and "the family", and how he thought the Beatles were messagers from God with the White Album. Some of the conclusions that he came up with with damn scary, because it all fits in with the Bible and the end of the world. They were the Four Horseman, and the lyrics, and the message that he derived from them, could have made a believer out of a lot of people.

Hah. My history's so screwed. I thought The White Album was after Manson and "Helter Skelter" was a reference to him.

I've heard of the book. It's a movie too, I think. The book would probably freak me out even more than the "Paul is dead. Miss him" message does.

Charles Manson was "psycho" anyways. Did many people adopt his views? I can't imagine his views being any more popular than that of the conspirators.

Eh, the rest of you. Do you think the subliminal message was...audible?

The reason they adopted his views, is because he makes a good case. It's scary how everything he said lined up with the book of Revelations.

There was a TV movie made back in the 70's that awesome. I don't think it's available, not sure, but I recorded it off TV years ago.

The Paul is dead stuff is quite funny. John doesn't say I buried paul, he says Cranberry sauce...lol The Pepper and Abbey Road covers are filled with "clues", like on Pepper, the hand over his head is the Indian sign for dead... His bass guitar is in the shape of a grave. I'd have to look at the cover to name some more, but there is a lot.

On Abbey Road, the license plate says 28if, meaning Paul would have been 28 if he was still alive, even though he would have only been 27, BUT, in some cultures, your considered born when conceived... He's also walking barefoot, which is how some religions bury their dead or whatever nonsense they came up with, and the left handed McCartney is holding his cigarette in his right hand, so it must be a double, right? They even have the other 3 Beatles dressed as people at a funeral.

It's quite funny how that urban legend took a life of it's own.

Heh. Some of this stuff is pretty funny, but it's mostly all just the power of suggestion. You probably wouldn't be able to make out any of that stuff if they didn't provide the lyrics of what it was supposed to be saying. It's the same thing with EVP. If you listen to EVP recordings without anyone telling you what you're supposed to be hearing, you likely won't hear anything. It's not until after they say, "Now, listen to it again and tell me if you hear..." that you go "Oh, yeah! Spooky!"

Yeah, that is definately the truth. Some of them are there though, and the rest is probably coincidence. An eerie one at that.

I agree... John is actually saying, not in reverse, "Monsieur, Monsieur, Monsieur, how about another one?" Now listen to it closely forward and you can hear that. It may not be as clear as you want, but it's certainly clearer than "Paul is dead, man, miss him..."

If you hear the Revolution #9 one, it's obvious. I think the Beatles were aware of the rumors and wanted to take advantage of it. Of course I believe Paul's alive, but I don't think the subliminal message is just a coincidence in "I'm so Tired"

But, yeah, that's true with the Stairway to Heaven and Hit Me Baby One More Time Ones. I can't hear anything with the Pokemon Rap and the Another One Bites the Dust ones on that site.

When did the urban legend about Dead Paul first creep up? The Beatles would be cheeky enough to play with the public on further releases.

Interestingly enough, I just read a very good book on the subject which name escapes me at the moment because I am at work and can't look at my bookshelf. The rumor started through a college student who made up a lot of the stuff as a joke (there was no Paul look-a-like contest won by "William Campbell", a walrus is not a sign of death in any culture, etc.). The book interviews the guy who wrote the original story and discusses the clues. It's a fun book, I'll try to remember to look up the title when I get home. (I bought it at a Beatles convention recently, but I'm sure it's available on Amazon.com)

But to answer your question, this story appeared just after Abbey Road was released, which was the last Beatles album recorded, so it's not likely they planted clues three years earlier for a rumor that hadn't even started yet.

I also saw a web page once that was very funny but I can't find it now where they "proved" that Ringo was dead based on clues on the records. Heh! It's easy to find evidence for something you already believe if you go backwards. That's how "creation science" works, too.

Yeah, that's how evolution works as well.

If you really think about it, it makes just as little sense as creationism.
