I remember the time when all the "real music" lovers were booing pop down to a slow death. Now its faded and what have we replaced it with?

An endless stream of utterly fucking awful rap and rnb music. Adding insult to injury is the commercial answer to pop music with Indie music making a resurgance for all those "real music fans". These new replacements are every bit as manufactured as pop music was. And i for one at least preferred seing hot girls lip syncing to catchy songs over user rubbing his abs like hes a demigod of some sort.

Im noticing it more and more that people seem ready for a return to pop music - our industry has become saturated with two genres to the point where its seeping everywhere and Kelly Clarkson is a perfect example of how the world is ready to return to the good old days of pop. Her songs may be catchy but they are far, far from revolutionary classics - yet they are performing way better than anything pop has offered for ages. Hell even Britney Spears has made a huge comeback with chartings that a few years ago she could have only dreamed of Maybe thats a sign?

Pop music at its worst is still easier to stumoch than yet another talentless rapper droning on. At least with pop songs they can tune voices to a fine art. At least with pop music they write songs rather than just take the fucking piss. If theres a choice between what kind of manufactured crap you want to listen to - i vote sexy pop sluts.

unfortunately, most pop post 1995 is hideous IMO.

80s pop was good and when pop music started was awesome.

but processed pop now is just terrible.

American Idol shouldnt be distinguished as pop music. Nor should any television spawned artists. They are all so awful that they deserve a genre of their own.

PS. 80S pop = way more processed than it is today.

80s pop was very good,but since the 90s its been crap,hopefully it will never return,fuck pop.

I agree with neo_wolf. 80s pop was pretty decent, but 99% of the modern stuff is terrible. I very much prefer rap and all the rest over modern pop.

Rap music right now is insanely awful.
All i ever hear is rap, badddddd rnb and reallllyyy badddd indie music.
Im sick of it all.

And if all of that still tops most of the pop music released in the past 5 years, you know how bad the situation truly is.

I just find pop music an easier listen. I mean when pop was in vogue we had trawls of shit - sure - but we also had some interesting characters and catchy tunes.

Now its just blandness. Everyone is identical, Every band sounds the same. Its awful i cant bear it i need more diversity in mainstream and i never thought id say this but Pop music is easily more diverse than this crap brand of indie and rap we are being presented.
