Re: Billboard chart discussion thread
I wonder if Style would have gone #1 if she kept her music on spotify. That fueled "See You Again" to #1 before Clear Channel even decided it was gonna be a hit!

The E.N.D. (2009-2010) "Boom Boom Pow" "I Gotta Feeling" "Imma Be"
Good Girl Gone Bad (2007-2008) "Umbrella" "Take a Bow" "Disturbia"
The Dutchess (2006-2007) "London Bridge" "Glamorous" "Big Girls Don't Cry"
FutureSex/LoveSounds (2006-2007) "SexyBack" "My Love" "What Goes Around..."
I guess I should have checked wiki first! I knew BEP and Adele had dominant years, but had only reached the top twice. Teenage Dream I should have remembered. Some of those are truly shocking though. "Take A Bow" ? "S&M"? Fergie?

Re: Billboard chart discussion thread
I forgot how huge Fergie's solo effort was at the time. Five consecutive top five singles, including three number-ones. All five went multi-platinum, a record not beaten until Katy Perry with Teenage Dream. Not to mention the album selling almost 4 million copies in the US and 8 million worldwide. It's rare to see such success not capitalized on with a follow-up album, though I guess she was busy with the BEP.
Side note: London Bridge is up there with Grillz and Laffy Taffy as one of the worst songs to hit #1 in the modern era.

I'm surprised Fight Song hasn't done better than #28 especially after its exposure in the Supergirl trailer. Definitely best radio song at the moment.
Also, Bad Blood should have an asterisk next to it for being Taylor's 3rd song from the album to be #1. It's just as much a Kendrick song.

S&M went #1 when remix with Britney and Kesha premiered.
E.T. had Kanye on the single version. No Kanye on album version.

Re: Billboard chart discussion thread
With due respect to Lamar, "Bad Blood" is obviously primarily a Taylor Swift song. No asterisk required.

Why don't you asterisk those too?
Cuz the original tracks were the ones played everywhere.

But sales from the remix was the reason why S&M went to #1. And no. The official radio edit and single release of E.T. was Kanye one, not the album one.

So which is it that matters? If the radio release of S&M (which drove the majority of sales) is irrelevant, why does it matter for E.T.? I agree with you that S&M wouldn't have hit #1 without the remix; E.T. I believe would have hit it either way. Billboard counts them both.

I don't think anything is irrelevant. If we are going to asterisk one song because of something, then others should be asterisked too if they had some kind of "help" hitting that #1 slot.

What song has been asterisked?

"See You Again" is back at #1 and "Uptown Funk" is back in the top 5. This summer has no jams.

Perfect time for Flex then to rise the ranks.

that has potential to be big.
I have to say, I detest Jason Derulo but I kinda like Want to Want Me.
