Thanks for the link Vincent. It's an alright song. I was a big fan of Mariah back when she put out Butterfly, great album.

It's the the number of spins the song gets from radio stations across the country. The last number is the impressions the song has gotten so far.

IM so excited...I really think this will be her comeback album...check it out
It's a project that's endured more than one false start, but it seems the Mariah Carey comeback is finally kicking into gear. After internet piracy saw two of her newly recorded tracks circulate around the world via chat rooms and message boards, the 34-year-old singer/songwriter has finally unveiled a track that she's ready for the world to hear.
'It's Like That', an up-tempo, club-orientated r'n'b groove, is already picking up considerable US airplay, after debuting earlier this week, and it's being acclaimed by industry insiders as the comeback record the chart-topping diva's being looking for.
The track's now set to be the first single from Carey's cryptically titled new album 'The Emanciaption of Mimi', due for release in March, which apparently mixes 80s flavoured retro grooves with Gladys Knight-style soul balladry. With the album, the follow-up to 2002's 'Charmbracelet', being seen within the industry as crucial for Carey, the singer and her label Island Def Jam are clearly determined to succeed. Production work comes courtesy of long-term collaborator Jermaine Dupri, who helped fashion previous Carey hits such as 'Always Be My Baby', while Carey is currently talking promo video concepts with director Paul Hunter, who has worked with the likes of Snoop Dogg, Brandy and Lenny Kravitz, and directed Mariah in the James Bond flavoured 'Honey' video.
For those who prefer a club-orientated Carey, there's further good news. House supremo David Morales recently revealed that he's been working with Carey on re-sung vocals for a house remix of her latest single. The partnership has previously produced highly acclaimed re-workings of hits such as 'Dreamlover', 'Fantasy' and 'My All'.
Meanwhile, 'Say Something', the Snoop Dogg duet Carey previously intended as the lead-off single from the project, before an unintended internet leak, is strongly tipped to be the follow up single after gaining positive reviews.
If March still seems too far off, you can get your Mariah fix later this month when her 1995 'Fantasy: Live At Madison Square Garden' concert finally gains a DVD release on the 24th.

Oh god, poor Carey
This is total garbage. I mean it isn't horrid to listen to. But it is not a good song either, it is the standard R n B beat, melody, form, crap that they are flooding the air ways with.
This is just garbage, and I thought more of her, its a shame.

hehe...I love it. I really think it has success written all over it. I think it will be a huge radio hit, but karl if your looking for more old school mariah..like classic ballads and stuff, there well be plenty on her new album

I miss old school Mariah, my favorite song is Without You, but my second favorite marian song is actually "I know what you want" the song she did with Busta Rhymes.

It's an interesting song. Hardly what I was expecting from Mariah Carey. Sounds more like one of the numerous Beyonce clones that already flood the airwaves.

"It's Like That" rises consistently, and peaks at a weekly total of 25.025 million audience impressions with 1635 spins.
It'll debut for sure on the Billboard Hot 100. My guess is somewhere in the 60's

You think that is as high as it will get, or could this be a good hit for her?

The song is already #58 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks.
I'm predicting by the February 10th edition of Billboard the song is in the Top 20 making it's way into the Top 10.

After Mariah Carey’s physical breakdown four years ago, the subsequent flop of her movie and soundtrack Glitter, and the bevy of bad press that followed, the one-time reigning “princess of pop†was put in a unique, albeit tough, position both career-wise and personally.
Although Glitter, the edgy and upbeat soundtrack album, was generally celebrated among critics (Rolling Stone dubbed the concept record “a big step forward in terms of maturityâ€Â), the negative reviews for the banal and downtrodden film of the same name were harsh enough to send Carey into the opposite musical direction.
The result was 2002’s Charmbracelet, a mellow and mostly un-inventive release touted as a return-to-form to the superdiva’s mid-1990 balladeering days. The album was introduced with “Through The Rainâ€Â, a conventional and sparsely-produced tune about overcoming adversity. Carey’s record label undoubtedly thought the inspirational ditty would remind listeners of past hits like 1993’s “Heroâ€Â, but the music industry’s acceptance of swooping ballads had greatly changed, and the single stalled at an unimpressive No. 81 on Billboard magazine’s Hot 100 singles chart.
Though Charmbracelet certainly had its standout moments, the record’s follow-up singles “Boy (I Need You)†and “Bringin’ On The Heartbreak†faced an even worse fate than “Through The Rain†at radio outlets, receiving minimal play and little fanfare. Things were certainly looking bleak for the once-invincible songstress, but Carey took the setbacks with stride and is now finding herself on the brink of a major comeback.
Just a little over two weeks since its premiere at radio, Carey’s new single “It’s Like That†has accumulated more airplay than all of Charmbracelet’s singles combined. This has merited the singer the title of Billboard’s Hot Shot Debut, where “It’s Like That†makes its bow at No. 53 on the Hot 100 singles chart. Over on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop singles chart, the tune moves to No. 44 after debuting last week at No. 58, the highest new entry for the singer in more than five years.
“It’s Like That†is the first single from Carey’s forthcoming Island/Def Jam album release The Emancipation of Mimi. She co-produced the single with long-time collaborator Jermaine Dupri, who recently hosted a mix session for Carey’s album with engineer Phil Tan at Silent Sound Studios in Atlanta. The record is due in stores due March 22.

That's amazing, go Mariah! She really deserves this, and I'm happy for her. Her upcoming album is definitely going to be a smash hit, and easily outsell Charmbracelet.

I hope not. Then we can be certain that American music tastes have truly disintegrated.

Its a great song...very danceable...I dont think it was meant to be all Commercial urban...
..its a new sound...I like it.
Mariah Carey is certainly on a come back...and if she plays her cards right, and releases a sensational ballad after this, I smell a great album for her.
