Quote: You can obviousely tell who hasn't seen the "Lose Control" video in this forum because people like movies35 and Captain Muha didnt give that video one win. The video is wayyyyyyyy over the top to not get an award. Its so well made with the choreography and the special effects in it. It has to win! i havent seen the video because i do not watch mtv... most of the videos they play are so pathetic, its not even worth my time to watch them. every video i voted for i have seen (not necessarily liked, but i have seen them). Quote: American Idiot is a load of whiny bullshit, which kind of sums up Green Day's discography. Compared to the rest of the list, however...
i agree... i thought the cd was horrible, especially because of the political rhetoric involved.
im into politics 3/4 of the day. when i listen to music, i want it politics-free. i cant handle all that whine.
green day's older stuff is great, but as soon as that graduation song hit radio, they sold out.
you know youre not punk when your songs are on kidz bop. get the hell outta here, green day. youre overrated and soft.

I saw parts of the video for Loose Control and while it was well choreographed, it was rather, frenatic, if that is the right word.
Whatever the case I wasn't impressed. The song is good, but the video just isn't in my opinion.

Okay... first eight.
Lose Control. There is no thematic consistency. Some of it looks like a Nike/Jeep ad. It gets a little interesting near the end. The most breakthrough thing is how much weight she's lost. Good for her!
Vertigo. It's an Ipod commercial. Give the award to Apple, not U2.
World on Fire loses points because it's just a guilt ride, but the real reason is it doesn't intengrate the song very well.
Mosh seems really animated! Some looks a lot like South Park. But it's all rather uninteresting subject matter.
Feel Good Inc has good animation but likewise doesn't do anything that their previous videos didn't.
Boulevard of Broken Dreams. Decent song, but really repetative video.
Speed of Sound. For a band with videos like Trouble and The Scientist, this is just ass.
I hav enever heard this HOllaback Girl song but I can't imagine living through it again. They say this song is POPULAR? The video is almost as bad.

Im hoping Kelly can pull out a win or 2 and knock us out with a terrific performance....everyone knows VMAs are all about the performances. If she could pull out a great night at the VMAs, it could give her the momentum she needs for the Grammys...cause I fear that she may get shut out at the Grammys for being an American Idol.

I don't think its about the video as much as how popular the song was

I think the video was pretty well done. It's as good as anything out there.

Rumor has it that this year's "big surprise" will be a performance by 50 Cent and Eminem, joined by....Dr. Dre. It sounds possible, considering it would be great promotion for 50's re-release of The Massacre.

nothing beats the VMA's from the early 90's when music mattered.

so true.
however, the best performance in mtv awards history goes to puff daddy, faith evans, and sting by far.

I hate to admit it, but Britney Spears made quite an impression on the nation back at the 2000 VMAs. It was like one of those pop-culture moments.

ohh.. well in that case, then just mute it and watch.
especially that miserable rendition of the stones.
that should be illegal.

Yes, especially that note she hit during a particular lyric ("they can't tell me who to beeeeeugheoweeeeeee!"). But all that aside, watching her strip and then pound the stage in a flashdance-style furry was pretty memorable. Especially during her "virginal" teen years.
