Tina Sugandh- Check out this girl!
I first heard her on the
Ice Princess soundtrack with
There Is No Alternative, which was different, but really cool and unique. Then I was able to find some clips of her earlier stuff. I managed to find
Seema, which was written about her sister. Then
I Spit Fire, which is my favorite song by her, she wrote it when she was 15, and she sounds amazing on this song. Her Hollywood Records debut album
Tablagirl is expected to hit stores later this year. She also contributed
River Of Dreams to Around The World In 80 Days soundtrack, as well as her cover of
White Christmas which appears on the Christmas With The Kranks soundtrack. Her song
Lift Off was featured on the film Raise Your Voice as well. Anyway, people are calling her the next Shakira, and her music is a lot different than what I am used to. She says that her music is going to be influenced by her Indian roots, and I think that is wonderful. Also she plays the Tabla, which is a very hard instrument to master in the Indian culture. I think you should give her a chance, she's a true artist. Writes her own material, plays an instrument, and sings pretty well. I included some songs, for your listening pleasure.
Taking Over Your Mind seems like it is the most radio friendly compared to the others, but they are all great songs. Also her rendition of
White Christmas is good. The tablas sound so beautiful.
