 Favorite Beatles Song
Well, the title is self-explanatory. I think we have quite a couple of Beatles fans on here.
Personally, for me, it's hard to pick, but in the end I'd go with Yesterday. I also really like Yellow Submarine and Let it Be.

My all-time favorite would be Let it Be. I've got a let it be t-shirt and that's how much I love that song. Other favs would be Strawberry fields forever, Come together and While my guitar gently weeps (clapton sure did do a great job on that one).

I have several. I can play (used to be able to, anyway) any Beatle song ever recorded. I love them that much. Picking a favorite song is kinda like picking a favorite kid, it's hard to do. Here are some of my favorites.
Something
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Day Tripper
The End
A Day in the Life
In My Life
Strawberry Fields Forever
Let it Be (I played that at my grandmother's funeral, and have requested that the Beatle's version be played at mine)
Sexy Sadie
Back in the U.S.S.R.
Twist and Shout (Lennon's vocals on this are the greatest vocals ever recorded, and it's the first take)
Yesterday

No Hey Jude - #2 on my list - just alittle disappointing.
I wonder if you forgot it, you don't like it or maybe it is more a McCarthy song than Lennon song - and I know from reading your love of Lennon.

I just got back from the annual New York Beatlefest -- what a great time!
Guests included:
Billy Preston (who played with the Beatles on the Let It Be album and later went on to have hits of his own with songs like "Will It Go Round in Circles" and"Nothing From Nothing")
Neil Innes (who wrote the Rutles songs and played Ron Nasty in the films, as well as being from the Bonzo Dog Band who played in "Magical Mystery Tour" and his songs with Monty Python and his bit parts as Robin's minstrel singing "Brave Sir Robin ran away..." I got his autograph on one of his CDs and we talked a bit about Eric Idle and I gave him a copy of my brother's psychedelic music, which you can download at http://inspectormuffin.com.)
Mark Hudson (of the Hudson Brothers in the 70s, now producing albums for Ringo, Aerosmith, and Ozzie Osbourne)
as well as many authors of Beatles books. Lots of jam sessions, big dealer's room, video rooms, and more.
A splendid time was guaranteed for all.

I love Hey Jude, too. Lennon was my favorite Beatle, but McCartney was also a big influence on me. He's the reason I learned to play multiple instruments, and he's the biggest reason I had such a focus on learning how to sing harmonies and expand my vocal range. I could have listed Penny Lane, Helter Skelter, Get Back, and any number of his Beatle songs. If you ever want to hear something amazing that McCartney does, find the song called "Let me Roll it". It was during a period where John and Paul were fighting, and Paul does a brilliant impression of John. His singing voice sounds remarkably like Lennon, and the style of music is very much Lennonesque. Mike Ventrella wrote: Neil Innes (who wrote the Rutles songs and played Ron Nasty in the films
The soundtrack to the first Rutles film is outstanding. He perfectly captured a Beatles vibe, without totally copying their songs. The mockumentary itself is a favorite of mine, featuring the original SNL crowd in cameos, Monty Python's, Eric Idle, as one of the pre fab four, and George Harrison and Rolling Stone guitarist, Ron Wood, in cameos, as well.
Glad you enjoyed the Beatlefest!

Get the second Rutles album -- it has quite a few good song tributes, but also has some of Neil Innes' own songs done in Beatles style, where you can't tell exactly which song he is parodying... and then be sure to watch the new Rutles sequel Erix Idle put together -- it's hilarious!
