Post Hot Hot Heat is back!
Hot Hot Heat is back! And, the new single is better than “Bandages” (well, at least my first thoughts are). I’m not sure if you guys have heard it (or even “Bandages” yet), but this song should put them on the map and you WILL eventually hear it.

The vocals are improved. He’s still got the punk edge, but he’s much smoother. It doesn’t seem as if he’s anticipating spitting on the ground after the recording…

The production is better. The lyrics in “Goodnight Goodnight” aren’t as witty as those in the “Bandages” single, but the overall “catchiness” of the song is similar. The lyrics aren’t personal in “Goodnight Goodnight”, but still touch on a similar theme as “Bandages”. It’ll stay in your head forever…One qualm with the song: The verses are too short. The song in general is short, clocking in at 2:10. But, the verses weave quickly into the chorus…

Still. This is more mainstream, as more people can relate to a song about leaving someone without mentioning voodoo dolls. But the attempt to be mainstream doesn’t drop the quality. I’m anticipating the album and I hope the result is much more even than the SOMETIMES brilliant “Make Up The Breakdown”.

You can buy the single on iTunes for $.99. It’s well worth it. It’ll hit the P2Ps in a while…

And an excerpt from the song:
It's not enough to hear me say you've won,
you only wanted me for havin' fun.
but now I think you've gone and had your way,
and left me with a pile of bills to pay.
I can't even rewind the tape machine,
to listen to your drunken reasoning.

Edit: Their website, http://hothotheat.com/, has a clip from the song, along with two other ones :)

I dunno, I love Goodnight Goodnight but if Talk To Me Dance With Me didn't break them into the mainstream what makes you think this will.

^not a single comma.

IT's good, and SHORT.

But mostly good. Better than Bandages...at least the production is.

Ugh.

They're in DC on the 11th. On the 12th I've got SATs. God damn you, College Board.
