"Harmonium" was released on the 7th Feb in the United Kingdom. We say "released" in the loosest term, for not only did it have no promotion, but the album is only out in two semi-major stores, with major retailers Woolworth’s and Virgin Mega stores failing to stock it, Amazon.co.uk promises dispatch in 6 weeks, that’s longer than it takes to import the record from US shores.
The album is only available for immediate dispatch on Play.com. Furthermore, the hoopla around a UK release of "White Houses"? With Hanson's "Penny and Me" creating a revival of catering for the young American singer-songwriters, it seems the right time to have struck, but no, "White Houses" has not even hit UK airwaves yet, a highly irregular pattern of release for any album.
The lack of any PR at all in the region, no apparent record label support to push the album into any major chain and no power-single to help shift its profile up a few notches means "Harmonium" will be lucky to hit top 50 in the UK come this weekend - where Vanessa Carlton is quickly becoming referred to as a one-hit wonder despite her ongoing profile in other parts of the world
