Re: 18th WOKJ Motion Picture Awards
I don't see a favorite this year. Not even a dominant top 3 like last year with Promising Young Woman, Soul and Tenet. Feels like 2019, where the obvious best picture Mission Impossible Fallout lost only because it was a particularly strong year for that type of movie. This year the two big superhero/villain movies, the best by far, will probably cancel each other out.

That's unfortunate. The only theater its playing at 'round here is kind of a pain to get to. They do have a Hot Chicken Takeover out there though.... My ballot is otherwise done though. I'll probably watch Antlers at some point, but I don't see that affecting anything other than the horror category, which is already stacked (go Fear Street 1666!). I'd also like to watch another doc so I can give The Rescue more than one point. Are there any animal ones that I missed?

Sent my ballot in!
My top numbers:
Suicide Squad - 17 nominations Dune - 14 Spider-Man - 7 Spencer - 7 Encanto - 7 (4 from best song) Fear Street 1666 - 7 Barb and Star - 7
Pretty sure everything else had less than seven.

Will try to do my ballot soon. Isn't Barb and Star not eligible this year?

I only watched Mass yesterday. Think I'll try and get Red Rocket watched before the deadline instead of The Last Duel. But if I can fit in both I will.

Re: 18th WOKJ Motion Picture Awards (Ballots Due 2/28!!)
I have only received two ballots so far.
Would extending the deadline a week or so help everyone catch up on the remaining films they want to see prior to submitting their nominations?

Re: 18th WOKJ Motion Picture Awards (Ballots Due 2/28!!)
I think an entire week wouldn't be needed. I think people are going to keep on wanting to delay the deadline. But if an extension, I would say a few days and then you can reveal noms next Friday?

Re: 18th WOKJ Motion Picture Awards (Ballots Due 2/28!!)
I'll edit my ballot to remove Barb and Star, but I doth protest! I can also confirm that it only received votes on one ballot last year because nobody had seen it yet. Also, I only received eleven nomination ballots total last year, and most of those happened in the three days before the deadline. So only having two so far is kinda normal? But if you want to extend it another week then I'll happily watch Licorice Pizza before resending.

Re: 18th WOKJ Motion Picture Awards (Ballots Due 3/6!!)
I have extended the deadline to Sunday, March 6th, midnight CST.
This will give everyone two weekends to catch up on any remaining films they wish to see. The deadline will not be extended again. The nominations will be revealed on either the Monday or Tuesday following the deadline, depending on how quickly I can compile them.
You are permitted to alter your ballot at any time prior to the deadline.

Red Rocket was a waste of my time as far as trying to watch movies I'd probably want to nominate for stuff. Maybe I'll nominate Simon Rex but that would be it. But I just watched The Novice which I actually didn't really expect I'd nominate for anything and it ended up being great. Isabelle Fuhrman gives one of the best performances of the year. Definitely recommended. It's basically Whiplash with rowing. Hoping more check it out before they send in their ballots.
