Jennifer Lawrence in Mother!

Her performance here was mesmerizing. Lawrence took a role in a strangely hypnotic film directed by Darren Aronofsky and brought life to this woman repeatedly ignored by her husband and who seems to only find comfort in the safety and security of the home she cherishes. The story and the life she portrays is of course more than this so you must experience the performance for yourself but this is hands down her most memorable work in such a memorable film.

Wonder Woman for Best Pucture

If you are looking for a Foreign Film to nominate, I’d point you towards Headshot. It stars Iko Uwais, and while not quite the same, will scratch the itch caused by the now shelved Raid 3.

Film never came to my area. I wanted to see it based on the trailer.

Even though it came out all the way back in January, I hope people remember Split. It is on HBO Go if you need a refresher. I think it deserves recogniton in lead actor, score, original screenplay and horror. It also deserves mention for lead actress and cinematography, but those categories are stacked this year.

I don't think I'll nominate it for anything but Best Actor. James McAvoy was brill. Movie itself was good but nothing great. Was a bit underwhelmed by it.

Yeah same here, Split didn't do it for me.

Finally watched it via Netflix. Didn't really do it for me. I think I need to rewatch Raid 2. That film had me going all the way to the end. Headshot had some moments but idk. It kind of had that been there done that vibe.

The film was ineligible here last year since it wasn't released theatrically in the United States. It was released theatrically last Spring, though, and has been on home video (Funimation) for several months now as well. I don't believe it's on any streaming service, but you can obviously find it online somewhere if need be.

It had a good amount of support here last year before it was ruled ineligible, so don't forget about it this year, everyone. And for those that haven't seen it -- animated offerings in 2017 were quite poor in the U.S., so definitely check this one out if you enjoy animation, or simply, quality films.

I haven't seen it yet but I'm excited the horror comedy Tragedy Girls will be available before this. It's supposed to be great. Check it out people.

My new favorite foreign film is The Villainess, just a hair above Headshot. I do feel bad that I’ll only be able to give those two a total of 3 points though. Maybe I’ll be able to catch Your Name in time.
