Wow. In a short span, late night lost Jay Leno, Arsenio Hall, Craig Ferguson, David Letterman and Chelsea Handler, while Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert left previous posts to upgraded shows. Now Jon Stewart.

So I assume this is a move to a new job in filmmaking? He doesn't really have anywhere else to go, I assume. Not that he would want to host a conventional talk show.

Also, CC is fucked. The Nightly Show is tanking. It's hard to see The Daily Show going without Stewart, and even tougher to see political satire basically disappear, but no matter who is chosen to replace him, it won't be as good.

I would guess there's going to be a shift away from political satire, at least in its current format, in the next few years. The loss of Colbert Report is pretty big, and a Daily Show without Jon Stewart is going to be rough. Do they try to go with a big name to sustain the franchise's popularity, or go with a name and hope to stick with it through the rough patches?

Faux news is AWFUL but so is CNN, MSNBC- all are equally terrible. Calling out just faux news makes you look kinda idiotic.

I never found him funny either, i would love a Daily show hosted by Norm Macdonald but that would never happen because it would be to awesome.

Norm would've been perfect back in 1999. Now I don't think he'd want to do it.

Whoever has to fill Jon's shoes has pretty big shoes to fill. It's a shame to see him leave.
