Awesome photos. Thanks for that. The Sweden cars made me laugh hard. And the suicide one is actually really beautiful (yes, I know it's morbid).

Seen some of the photos before, and this stuff is always fascinating, but I always think of Susan Sontag when viewing photographs of historical relevance, especially one like the photograph of the girl with her doll sitting in the ruins of her old home. Who's to say that was actually her home? Are we led to believe that from the caption? Or is there any truth to the statement? Is it even a photograph from that era to begin with. These skeptical thoughts always play in my mind when viewing photographs of this nature.

Lifeguard on the coast, 1920′s

Looks like Ben Affleck.

Hotel owner pouring acid in the pool while black people swim in it, ca. 1964

To think, that was only 50 short years ago.

If true, the best photos for me are:

Martin Luther King with his son removing a burnt cross from their front yard, 1960

+

Baby cages used to ensure that children get enough sunlight and fresh air when living in an apartment building, ca. 1937

Great link, Thegun.

New set I saw today. Some are cool, a couple may be photoshopped, but I still loved a few. Especially the eclipsed sun that looked like the devil coming out of the cloud.

Those 50 are also great, but different entirely.

I had seen most of those before. I love seeing airplanes break the sound barrier. Very cool set of pictures.
