 Re: RIP Peter O'Toole
He was a great actor, and it was too bad he never won an Oscar. He will be missed.

 Re: RIP Peter O'Toole
This is sad, sad news, though he led a long life despite living hard in many ways for many years. He was a truly magnificent actor. Perhaps the greatest British actor of his generation, which is no small feat considering the competition, including Michael Caine and Richard Harris. It is hard to even pinpoint a specific career height, though I would nominate Lawrence of Arabia, The Lion in Winter, and The Stunt Man. RIP

 Re: RIP Peter O'Toole
Honestly, holding the record for the most nominations without a win has a certain charming ring to it. Perhaps neater than having won one randomly along the way.

An underrated gem? Peter O'Toole was pretty highly regarded.

Yes, so he did. It was early, I had just woken up.

So tragic, and here I am in complete agreement with David. Truly he is one of the greatest, and the best in his class.

 Re: RIP Peter O'Toole
He was a bloody Irish man. Food critic Chua Lam recalled in his column he once met O'Toole in an international restaurant (Jimmy's Kitchen) in Hong Kong. While eating at the place, O'Toole made a scene shouting at a British customer who he said yelled at the waiters by calling them "boy".
