Post Paul Martin's Speech to Canada
First impression: weird.

So what did Canadian's think about Martin's speech? This is the first time in my lifetime I have ever seen the Prime Minister address the whole nation. Martin's speech was pretty bad. One thing I'll admit is that Harper is better at actually grabbing people's emotions. But I like that Martin always addressed what he did, instead of blaming or talking about what everyone else did. Speech didn't address anything new at all, really. Nothing that exciting. Except the statement that Martin made about calling an election in the fall, or whenever it was, no matter what. That was a bold statement. Don't the Conservatives want to get the election rolling next month? I read in the papers they want to call one on May 19th, and then have a projected election day being on June 27th.

Harper was also pretty bad. It made him sound very ignorant, because it was obvious the whole speech was pre-written and that he was, regardless if Martin said anything good, going to knock him and the speech down. So generic, and he said nothing new.

Jack Layton's response to Martin was a joke. He's a joke. That's all I'll say.

PEACE, Mike ;)

The press here is saying that the Martin government is going to lose and the conservatives are going to win. Is that how it seems in Canada?

It's possible, but I think the Conservatives are overly optimistic wanting to call an election now. I remember at the last election, everyone was saying how the conservatives were going to win or be so close to the liberals, and the liberals still ended up blowing them away, even if they got a minority government. In my opinion, the liberals will easily win again. The conversatives should be prepared to lose again.

PEACE, Mike ;)

If Conservatives win, I shall refer to myself as portuguese and not canadian.

The only speech i heard was Layton's and it was pro-liberals, as long as they have a NDP-ish budget.

The liberals won't be taken down by this silly sponsorship scandal. If canadians were to really look it at, it's only like 5-10$ out of your pocket that went away. Are they really gonna put the conservatives (or worse yet) the NDP (lmao, what a joke of a party) into power?

Having had to suffer under the Mike 'Scumbag' Harris gov't here in Ontario, I have effectively ruled out voting for the Conservatives.

Ever.

It will probably boil down to Ontario again, but I think the Liberals will have the edge again.

It always boils down to Ontario in every election. You should know that by now boxey. Ontario & Quebec always hold the power while the rest of the provinces bitch about how they should have some of it. There's really no good choice for a conservative in canada, the conservative party is a joke and who's really gonna vote for the Bloc Quebecois.

Bloc Quebecois? How could I go wrong with that one!!!

And yeah, whom are we kidding, it's always Ontario, all the time.

Btw, Leyton: "It's not a national problem". WTF??? A Liberal problem??? Are you kidding me?

I wish he was Jane Fonda and I a Vietnam vet, so that I could have spit in his face!

last time I checked, the Fifth Estate does NOT pick the PM.

We don't want to go back to the polls just yet. If Harper forces this thing, people will be incredibly pissed off and he will lose... and his leadership will be called into question again. He's a posturing, grinning idiot.

It's funny how in last election, Layton predicted that his party would come in 2nd next to the conservatives but ended up losing a couple of seats from the election before. He's such a loser.

Harper is scary, and Layton, as I said, is a complete and utter joke. Really. I have a hard time not laughing at him.

Canadians are not ready to go to the polls again. If the conversatives call the election, which at this point it definately looks like Harper is really anxious to call the election, they'll lose. It's my impression that most Canadians just want to move on already. Harper never wants to miss a chance to criticize the liberals though. According to him, they're pure evil. And what, the conservatives are heavenly angels who are coming to save the day? I will ALWAYS trust the liberals over any party run by Harper.

PEACE, Mike ;)

I agree with YOU. I've fucking had it with those miserable, useless slackers in Quebec - always demanding to be mollycoddled by the Feds with special treatment and a steady flow of extortion money to keep them happy. Who cares if they're happy??? The Quebecois have been nothing but trouble since the Plains of Abraham. The Brits shoulda shipped them all back to France after they kicked their asses.

The Liberals not winning the next election is like Episode 3 not being first place on opening day. It's going to happen. Liberals will pick themselves up, dust themselves off, and continue running this country. Let's just hope it isn't into the ground.

Layton resembles someone you'd see operating a ride at an amusement park. Or someone in a barbershop quartet. Prime Minister? No.

The rest of the country is populated by farmers, fishermen and lumberjacks. No one gives a flying fuck what those uneducated morons have to say. Send all the rednecks and evangelicals to Alberta and seal the borders - fast!

Not because they're uneducated (which is far from the truth), and you know why I said that. Lack of population. Don't be implying things in my own words that were never meant to be.

exactly. he's a municipal politico. He can handle zoning changes and parking by-laws, and that's about it.

I'm AGREEING with you. The Conservatives made way too many deals with organized hate groups when they merged with the Alliance Party, so they're hopelessly corrupt. Martin is a pro... and he should make you conservative types happy as he's tight with a buck. I'm still to the left of Che Guevara, but I'm not ready to support the NDP yet.

Wow. There's something we agree on. We should hug.

But you're right about the conservatives now-a-days. I would have never voted for Harper or Day for any type of office but I would have liked to see MacKay been in office. And that's what I like about Martin, he doesn't go spending all too much. What I would like to see him spend on though is the military. What a larf that is.

I don't believe in prophecy, neo. I believe in Natural Law ;)

1) No one can prove that God (or gods) exist

2) The messiah of the NT could NOT have existed

3) Not one biblical prophecy has even come close to becoming reality

4) So everything that pertains to Judaism or Christianity is a crock

therefore, we may only conclude that the person POSING as a prophet is attempting to PERSUADE the masses, for whatever reason. (Money is the usual motive.)

Canada? No prophet in his right mind would even bother because there' no money to be made here.

I'll imply whatever the hell I WANT to imply. I'm an extremely tough SOB, you know... and I drive my truck through your town all the time. So you better watch it, or I might end up driving it through yer house.

(DISCLAIMER: I'M KIDDING, OF COURSE.

I don't know who you are or where you live, etc.

But there's a reason why those bozos work in their chosen fields, and none of those cats are university material, so what the fuck do THEY know?????)
