Hmm I'm trying to think of an upside to this forum being listed in the yahoo index.

More random driveby trolls?

I think a lot of bots would be more accurate. Yahoo is infested with them.

What is a bot? In the way in which you mean the word.

Not actual humans behind accounts. There are hundreds on Yahoo, and a lot of the time they can register on message boards, and all kinds of things. Some of them advertise sex, and some advertise loans, all sorts of stupid crap like that.

That's not a good thing. Many, perhaps most of us, don't want this forum to be swamped with new people.

And really that kind of thing should only be done if you have OKed it with an admin.

Yes. What he said.

I love the idea of all the members wanting to see this place bloom. Thank you. But everything should be cleared with eagle and bABA to see if it compliments their vision for where worldofkj should be going.

I am fairly sure that all he did is type in our URL and submit us to be crawled by yahoo ... something that already happens anyways.

Simply go to Yahoo ... or Google for that matter ... and search for World of KJ. We are easily found that way. We show up under other things as well, but none as prominantly. We still havent cracked the top page on things like Box office analysis, or movie predictions, and other things. But we are there, burried, but there.

Impact, simply submitting us will not get us high on the rankings. Baba and Mav designed a keyword meta tag that is unseen, but attached to our website. It helps the search engines know what to link to us for. In time we will probably get higher up in google and yahoo, simply because the number of places linking to us is growing.

Regardless, I never submitted the forum, maybe I should have? So thanks for that. But like others said, you should probably contact me or baba first, because over submission can get you kicked off of a search engine.

It's not a big deal, and thanks for the help :)

I thought so, too. All signs have shown me that the admins are trying to grow big, and I don't think it hurts to have members helping out.

I searched for "Box Office Analysis" in Yahoo Search, and World Of KJ is currently #32, not bad at all if you ask me.

I griped but it was plain that your intentions were good. Don't take it personally.

Yeh, like I said, we are there. Alot of the credit for that goes to Baba and Mav. They have been a huge help getting together meta tags for the site among many other things.

But really you all help as well and you may not even know it. Every time one of you types in our URL in a forum, or anytime you contact a site about linking to one of our articles, things I know some of you have done, it helps. The web is very link driven.

Right now our design is not very search engine friendly, something we are aiming to fix, it is my hope that after this summer, we will be ready to take on communist russia, and then the world!

 Don't you mean Communist China? U.S.S.R. is no longer. Don't make Krem take you for a swim in the Hudson.

Registering a site:

Involves submitting basic site details + URL.

Result: If successful, Yahoo enters you into it's directory and places you in the right category for it.
Any result from that?: Positive.

Site submission is a good thing.

The only negative aspect:
- What eagle said. Be careful about such submissions. There is the problem of
a) Spamming (eagle and I might have already done the same)
b) Submission into the wrong categories
c) We currently have 'comingsoon' pages. Most directory registrations are manual. They hate coming soons. THey want to list sites that are complete. So it's best to wait a bit right now.

Thank impact. Just mention something to eagle or me before hand ... your intentions were good and your step was right .. just wrong timing : )

a note: Stay away from Open Directory. We're not ready for that directory yet. Eagle and I are working on that one.
