 Cocktails
I've probably made this thread before. Whatever. I like drinking.
What are your favorite cocktails?
Or spirits, more generally?
I've been into manhattans and whiskey sours recently. In the past, I've been more of a martini (slightly dirty, vodka) drinker. If I don't trust the bar and don't see a unique offering I like, I go with beer/ wine.
At home, I pretty much only drink scotch and bourbon. Or beer/ wine. Recently, I had some fireball left over (lol) and made a whiskey sour with that. Actually turned out delicious. For entertaining, Cointreau/ ginger ale and Caipirinhas are fool proof for making at home.

Jack and Coke, or most whiskey and Coke. I like White Russians too. Not really into Vodka, or specialty drinks. I too am big into beer and more recently wine as well.

 Re: Cocktails
Bourbon on the rocks at home. Scotch for a treat. Never order beer. When I am out, red wine or bourbon on the rocks. Also like straight shots of tequila or rum. Pretty much avoid all sugary drinks like fireball/peppermint schnapps, though I like the taste, I tend to feel awful the next day. Jaeger for the same reason and maybe because I am too old to be a "bro" anymore with Jaegerbombs.
A whiskey sour is good when it is hot out and I wish to trick my body into thinking it is getting hydrated. Trick is on it.
A martini is good but I hate apple/fruitinis.

 Re: Cocktails
Im not big on cocktails but i have a few favorites:
1. Paloma (Squirt, tequila and the glass rimmed with sea salt). Good stuff. 2. Sangria, there are a lot of variations. I like mine with Lime juice, Lambrusco wine and chopped pear, peach and green apples. I hate it when they put soda. 3. Cubana, kinda like a Michelada but with tomato juice. 4. Baileys on the rocks

Delicious. I recently learned that the more correct way to prepare iced tea is to do the first step as you described, but instead of cooling it in the freezer, pour the hot tea over ice cubes. The freezing shock preserves the tea taste better. It works, try it out.

 Re: Cocktails
On the cocktails:
I am an avid cocktail mixer myself and have a nice set of tools and ingredients for those at home. I like to try out new things and combinations myself. However, the truth is that my favorite still remains a good old Pina Colada. As far as longdrinks go, I can never go wrong with Gin/Tonic. Boring? Maybe, but still the best. Oh and I love milk with Cuarenta y Tres (that shit is so delicious).
As far as pure spirits go, it really depnds on the occasion. I love whisky. Good whisky, not most of the American shit that's out there and spare me any bourbon with coke. I mean old, smoky single malt. Laphroaig, Glenfiddich, Cranggankore. Love that shit, even sometimes by myself. And please no ice cubes.
In party situations, if I can get my hands on a shot of Grey Goose vodka, that's my pick. Othwerwise, silver tequila will do.
I have been recently getting more into wines (hated them before), my preference clearly lies with the red ones, more specifically older Bordeaux.

 Re: Cocktails
My little brother loves Gin & Tonic, it's nasty. I don't drink a lot of mixed drinks, but I do love an Amaretto Sour. I'll do the rare shot every now and then if I'm at a party, but never will I ever drink Fireball Whiskey again. Ever.
I mainly just drink beer. Nothing too dark, though.

 Re: Cocktails
Gin & Tonic is my go-to in a bar. I also frequently order Whiskey Sour, Rum/Coke and Cranberry/Vodka.

 Re: Cocktails
Gin + Ginger Ale is my favorite mix, I usually like a bit of raspberry in what ever I am having. Absolutely hate adding milk or creamer to my drinks, fuckin disgusting.
I usually go for Cabernet (my go to drink), I love most red wines, or wheat beers, the darker the better.

 Re: Cocktails
I hardly ever drink. I probably didn't even have my first drink until I was in my late 20s.
I like to add a little bit of coconut rum or butterscotch vodka to fruit juice. It tastes good and relaxes me. Sometimes I'll get "girlie drinks" like strawberry daquri or coffee & kaluha. Sometimes a Mike's Hard Lemonade.
I've never found a beer I liked. When I went to Ireland, everyone said "try a real Guiness, you'll change!" but I didn't like that either.
Every once in a while, people get me to try martini or a manhattan or something, but they never do much for me. One sip is enough.
I never drink if I am driving. As an attorney, I've seen too many lives ruined because of that.
