Ugh. I'm not a big fan...
Though it has the biggest rides of any amusement park in this area, they're all bumpy. Riding Anaconda 4x gave me a huuuge headache.

King's Dominion is cool, only problem is it's too damn far and traffic on certain sections of I-95 is hideous, especially on weekends. Six Flags, however, is 15 minutes away. Shipwreck Falls ride there is fabulous and a great stress reliever. Met Wolfman Jack there once, which was awesome. \:D/

I grew up in Richmond, had many friends who worked there in the summers, was offered a job there myself and turned it down, and went every summer. It's just a big amusement park, nothing special. Busch Gardens in Williamsburg is much better, and I liked going there even more.

Busch Gardens is nice to walk in, but it's only got four coasters (I think).
Cedar Point's the best of 'em all.

Busch Gardens is great, not just because its the home of the Anheiser Clydsdales, but because its one of the only parks left that is a theme park rather than an amusement one. It means that while there is a slightly less emphasis on rides (which is changing, torri i ws there two years ago and i think its up to seven rollercoasters) they also have stuff that is not ride oriented. Shows, a zoo, sort of cheesy different "countries" and better food/nicer places to sit. In the end its alot more entertaining than a place swathed in cement with marginal decor and three hour lines just to get on a two minute ride. Its a great park for anyone who likes to do stuff in between the rides, instead of just running across the pavement to get into another two hour lines for the second most popular coaster right after finishing the most popular one.
My fave is in CT, and it has a truly beautiful wood coaster. I'm obsessed with the aesthetics of wood coasters, and think they are far more entertaining even if they cause a bit more whiplash.

I agree with the comments about Bush Gardens. It was also cleaner and you felt like they were really trying to have something for everyone and not just rides.

Between Six Flags and King's Dominion (the two theme parks closest to me), I'd go for King's Dominion.
My favorite theme park is probably Busch Gardens Tampa, though. Never been to Cedar Point.
