So .. Any NewYorker at Ashes and Snow!?
If you dont know this already, I'm a lover of photography. I didn't know much about this exhibition but when I saw some of the images, it gave me a reason to try to atleast make another visit to New York before June.
Take a look

Went to the site. These look like British Colonial POstcards from the early 1900's. I dunno, I have to check them out and I'll do it knowing me, but I have some hesitation. Depends on what his artist statement and the curation around it is. Otherwise it reeks of Rudyard Kipling.

its a dude who went around for 2 years just taking pictures.
when it comes to photography, i barely ever care about what the person's intentions were, though if i know, it allows me to see them in another light as well. I just really appreciate photography and enjoy seeing things the way i want them to really .. it could be my 4 year old nephew just taking random pics but sometimes, he'll end up pressing the button at a time when the picture would be fantastic in how i see it.

I know, but he could have taken pictures of animals and people in Boston Public Garden too. This just has a heavy hand in Orientalism when you consider where he consciously chose to go to ahead of time to procur these images.
hehe, sorry, this is kind of my life. I like the images, I've just been spending too much time in Art Hist and jobs. I'm always going to have a love hate relationship with artwork. I love it on a visceral level, like you bABA, where when something appeals to me it just.....does. No questions asks as far as if I think they are appealing or not. But then I have to sit down and write papers about it, heh, and then its not longer just how I feel looking at it, its a paper. Still its very interesting to me as far as his anthropological (mis)intent. I go to these things for many different reasons, it keeps art work hollistic and interesting to me. So how'd you find out about this photographer?
have I just killed this thread?
