Post So I thought my car was stolen ...
Walking back from my friend's place, i didnt see my car. It often happens when its dark and theres snow that i miss the car or dont recognize it so i dont panic. i took out my keys and pressed the lock button expecting to see my lights flash. No response. I checked to see the land marks. Yup, right place. First signs of panic kicked in. Once i had confirmed this is indeed the place i parked and theres no sign of my car around, i proceeded to walk a couple of blocks. I'm well versed with Montreal downtown so depending on the time of day, I'm good at predicting where I might find a cop car passing by. Found one right away and they were great. Drove me back to the spot and searched through databases to see if my car was moved for some odd reason. I guess they were talking in french so i'm not sure but i guess as a last resort, they asked for my cell and called up the city snow removal office. Found my car a few blocks away. Turns out I'm suppose to walk a few blocks back and forth looking for tiny orange stickers. Got fined a bit but who cares.

sigh ...

I was pretty calm throughout the thing and was keeping really well. I guess the second i actually found my car was when i realized how much i was just holding in. I did notice i had trouble putting my seat belt on and the keys in the ignition cause i was shivering a bit.

I don't understand... the snow removal guys moved your car a couple blocks? Canada is wierd. Here our Department of Public Works calls us and we ticket the car, or call a wrecker service to tow it if it is a traffic hazard.

Well, they still need to clean the street right? so if the car is parked there, it'll be damn near impossible.

I sitll doubt they put up the sign though. The entire street had their cars parked. I reckon we all had our cars moved and tickets put up.

How do they move the cars? Does your street department have a tow truck? Also they wouldn't have the authority to write a ticket, I wouldn't think (then again it is Canada...).

$10 says a drunken street department employee went for a joyride in your car with a few hookers and parked it in the wrong spot. Or, maybe Doogie Howser did...

haha

yes. tow truck. The city has the authority to write you a ticket if you are parked at a place you aren't suppose to. the city itself is allowed to right you a ticket for stuff like that. it wasn't the tow truck that did it lol!!
