Now in its 25th year, the Golden Raspberry ceremony is typically held the day before the Oscars to recognize the year's worst film work, so it's no surprise that the winners almost never show up to collect their trophies. Which is why the audience at Saturday's ceremony, held at Hollywood's Ivar Theater, were stunned to see recent Oscar winner Halle Berry appear in person to collect her Razzie for Worst Actress for Catwoman, a movie that also won Worst Picture, Worst Director (single-monikered Frenchman Pitof) and Worst Screenplay.

''Thank you so much. I never in my life thought I would be up here,'' Berry said, according to People. ''It's not like I ever aspired to be here,'' she said, parodying her emotional speech from three years ago when she won a Best Actress Academy Award for Monster's Ball. Clutching her trophy, she told the cheering Razzie crowd, ''And no, I don't have to give this back. It has my name on it.'' She continued, ''I have so many people to thank, because you don't win a Razzie without a lot of help from others." Those included ''Warner Bros., for putting me in a godawful piece of shit movie''; =D> Pitof, whose instructions she said she couldn't understand; her manager, whom she dragged onto the Razzie stage, saying, ''Next time, read the script''; and her costars, because ''in order to give a really rotten performance like I did, you have to have a lot of terrible actors around you.''

Explaining her good-sport appearance, Berry said, ''When I was a kid, my mother told me that if you can't be a good loser, you can't be a good winner. If you can't take the criticism, then you don't deserve the praise.'' She recalled trying to be gracious when, as a young woman, she lost a beauty pageant to another woman, ''but all I wanted to do was f---ing beat the s--- out of her.'' She called her Razzie victory ''a lesson learned, and I hope to God I never have to see these people again.''

This makes me respect her more, although she's still dumb in the first place for making the movie. Only person in recent memory to be there is Tom Green, and well... it's hard to respect him any more than I do.

It says alot of good thigns about her character that she is willing to laugh at herself. I found her speech quite comical, she ought to display the Razzie right next to her Oscar.

And Miss Berrys so called "noble" acceptance of her Razzie may have been a rare acceptance of defeat in Hollywood - but it was also a hugely unprofessional speech where she basically condemned everyone else in the project for HER failures as an actress. Which defeats the point.

The only reason she got a standing ovation is because a celebrity finally showed up at the event.

I think Michael's closer to the truth. She used her "good sport" appearance as an opportunity her slam everybody else around her without being called a ***** herself. If she had gotten up and said "Whoops that was a real screw up, we ain't perfect, sorry everybody"...well that would have been fun.

These outbursts are what holds you back from climbing any ladder of success.

Tom Green accepted his Razzie for Freddy Got Fingered in 2002 i believe.

If she hdbeen at a ceremony where she won, she would be expected to thank those people for her success..her speech were the perfect antithesis to the normal oscar/globe speech.

A-list actors often pays oemone to read and decide on scripts for them, if I pay a person and they picked catwoman I'd be pissed to.

While you have apoint, its interestign that when we win we have to thank those who helped us, but when we fial we have to blame just urselves.

She should have included a bit mroe about her performance suckign ass, but I still don't have a problem with her speech.

Point is she didnt actually say she sucked. She just blamed it on everyone else around her. Even blamed her agent for reading HER script, the one the studios sent for HER to read...not her agent.

Like lots of starrs don;t pay people to read scripts for t hem, you do realize tits extremely common in part because they are sent so many scripts.

She admitted she sucked by picking up the Razzie. People who pick up an Oscar thank and praise everyone involved. It was the razzies and she insulted everyone involved. Seems fair

She engaged in a common practice, but still blamed someone else for the movie. Think of it this way: if you had a test to write in school, but had someone helping you beforehand to study. You write the test, get the test back, and get an "F". You don't blame someone who helped you, especially if they knew what they were doing.

Please don't try and make a DIRECT connection between the two. I know it's not the exact same, I'm not stupid. I'm just saying for example. So, no taking literally. :wink:

I feel slightly more intelligent for someone assuming that i dont know that agents reading scripts is common practice in Hollywood.
Sure its common practice but its not right.
And her speech was really not honourable nor professional

If she had said something else then id be behind her - but basically, she blamed everyone BUT herself
