 I dropped my macbook
Fuck. I was about to take a nap, and I pulled the covers of my bed over me and my macbook was on the cover and fell over the side of my bed onto the floor.
I opened it quickly, it seemed fine. I was messaging people on MSN then it froze so I turned it off. I turned it back on and it loaded but never went to my desktop/home screen it was just stuck on the grey screen. Has this happened to anyone else?
I'm going to leave it shut off for now, but if not I'll bring it buy the Apple store tomorrow. Fucking shit.

 Re: I dropped my macbook
pffft I've dropped my dell many times and it still works properly.............bar the large crack on the rear, and the less said about me dropping my weight bench on a previous machine the better.
If it turned on after I'm sure its not serious Inc, computers either respond or do not there is no middle ground.

Dino how is it bad? I mean he likely fucked up his OS and maybe his HD but the machine has to be OK.

Often dropping laptops won't cause an issue, but unfortunately it seems you were unfortunate enough and messed up your computers hardware. It will likely need to be replaced, hopefully you have some kind of warranty.

 Re: I dropped my macbook
That sucks. Do u have accident damage protection. I think nornal warranty just covers hardware issues.
I think Apple makes its laptops so thin and so all the hardware components are too close to each other.

 Re: I dropped my macbook
Ugh. I think I have a warranty, I have to double check the papers I kept from my purchase.
I just got home and it still won't show anything besides a grey screen. I'm going to bring it to the Apple store tomorrow but I won't say I dropped it, I'll just say it started acting this way. I'll see what I can do. Fuck fuck fuck.

So I went to the Apple store today. They fixed it for me. It was the hard drive. So unfortunately everything i had on here is gone but, at least it's fixed.

Yup I never ended up backing up my system, which in retrospect was obviously a very stupid thing not to do.

 Re: I dropped my macbook
Oh dude. you shoulda gotten an external hard drive while you were there.
I just got like a 1terabyte one a few months back. I would go insane if I lost all the work I have on this laptop.

 Re: I dropped my macbook
I dont have the funds at the moment, but as soon as I do i'm going back. I need that, a key board cover slip (i just found out they carried these) and the proper screen cleaner.

 Re: I dropped my macbook
You can probably get the date with a recovery wizard, I have no idea what ones they have for Mac's but I've used ones on windows machines to pull stuff off formatted drives and even ones with dicky spindle readers.

What's the keyboard cover slip? I should probably get one of those.

 Re: I dropped my macbook
How very deeply uninteresting. Does it's mac status somehow make it more newsworthy than breaking any other laptop?
