Next Year's Awards: Star Wars, Star Wars, Star Wars!
Come on, it's soooooooooooooo obvious!
WHat are your predictions? Just totally random picks?
I think the SW fans will make sure SW will dominate the way LOTR did. Just a feelin, that's all...
Also, maybe WOTW?

Thing is, I have a veryyyyyyy hard time imagining WOTW to be as popular as SM2 was ($373m...). Yet Spidey did ok only in the tech categories.
Geisha ya, I can see that (assuming it won't be crap like TPOTO).

At this point I think Narnia will be my favorite pic of the year...at least, in terms of the blockbusters. But I think many of the Jackson junkies will eat King Kong up and nominate the shit out of that. I think Spielberg's Munich movie will be this year's Aviator, with 26 of the 17 categories nominated. I also think Mr. and MRs. Smith can be this year's Bourne Supremecy....a lot of (surprising) praise, but not enough to get a single nomination come awards season.

One thing is certain. The films released this year will be far and away more interesting and entertaining than the lackluster and mundane period of most of last year.

Well, I get these feelings..(almost prems) and it has not failed me yet. [-o<
Last year felt hollow, and it was for the most part. (imho)
This will be a good year...I can feel it.

I think, overall, the votes were pretty good and really representative of a balance between quality films and quality entertainment.
I don't think anybody should be panicy that a popular film will come and sweep everything away.

If Star Wars doesn't sweep next year, I expect resignations from organizers and mass suicide of voters.

After all, since they are offering a consolation prize to Scorcese this year it seems like, and they gave one to Jackson last year, why not George Lucas next year?
