What led you to this site? Tell us your story.


For me it was Baumer (a regular at BOM/BOT). We were pretty close having been the two most prolific posters during BOM’s early days. There was a revolt/exodus at BOM in 2005 and many of them came to WOKJ in protest. By then, I had stopped posting at BOM but connected with Baumer at some point wondering where everybody was at. He told me about this place and suggested I stick around. Rest is history.

Enough about me. How did YOU come to find this place?

I was googling stuff about the Hunger Games movies (started reading the forum when Catching Fire came out) when they were coming out, stumbled across discussion threads here, and really enjoyed reading them

Lecter begged me for months (even though we disliked each other, but he always had the strangest fetishes) before I finally joined. Hence why my join date is later than that of most other former BOM members.

Joined BOM back in 2005. I started following Box Office closely around the time of the Incredibles, particularly on BOM, and then when Revenge of the Sith came out I started shadowing the forums around talk about there film. There was someone I really disagreed with who was making a clown out of himself, so I felt compelled to join the discussion forum and spar back. Shortly thereafter I was hooked, and with the vast majority of the users here being from BOM it was only a matter of months until I joined up here

Nice.

I stayed because of the quality of the insights here. It’s a higher level of discourse and analysis than BOM. The predictions are often spot on, or backed by very reasonable indicators/assumptions. The boxoffice specific conversations are generally more intelligent and that drew me.

One of the biggest draws to this site, today, from the Lurker Kingdom is Corpse’s Japan Boxoffice Thread. I believe it is the authoritative source for many trade publications that cover the Japan boxoffice market.

I'm coming up on 20 years between BOM and KJ. I have never been a regular poster anywhere else. I've always felt this was just my community to regurgitate my bad takes and awful opinions. I've argued with people. I've laughed at people's posts. I've been annoyed by many of you. From the beginning to now, I have enjoyed all of you... intimately.
