You've Gotta Admit, Maverikk's Good At Box Office..
That's Box Office predicting.. He did call IRONMAN right from the getgo when many of you clearly had doubts about the movie doing as well as it did and that begs the question: Overall, how do you feel Maverikk is at Box Office Predicting in general?? The guy's given alot of shit but he does know his stuff.. Would you agree or disagree??

Maverikk makes about 6 predictions a year, at the MOST.
I could make 6 predictions a year and get them all right too.

I mean, seriously, a 250+ total MONTHS before release (before any trailers, hype, idea that the movie is going to be any good, etc.) is way gutsier than any call three weeks out, especially when advance tracking supports it (as it did with Iron Man). Excel is probably the best "shotcaller" here. At least he's willing to admit when he's wrong, anyway.

I could make 6 predictions a year and get them all right too. I predict that your statement's correct. Or incorrect. One of the two. Tune in a year from now to eat crow!

That was a great call by Mav. Excel is underrated as a predicter. Personally I rate long term predictions more highly than weekend predictions (where plenty of tools are available like yahoo, buzz charts, tracking, crowd reports etc). Good forsight on what will be big and what wont is more likely to get someone a job with one of the studios. Excel.

Sometimes i call it right(best prediction was Finding Nemo 320mill+ when the teaser came out) and sometimes i am way off(superman 400mill, nuff said).
But great call on Iron Man, i would have never guess it would have that monster opening.

I could make 6 predictions a year and get them all right too. You can't even make ONE prediction and get it right. And it's not like my predictions are run of the mill, everybody could see it was going to happen, type of predictions, but if it makes your fragile ego feel better, believe that nonsense. Back the talk up and try to do what I do since it's so easy ANYBODY could do it! Hell, I'll put that challenge out to anybody that doesn't respect these skills. Thanks for the props, BKB. (Excel, you aint no Mavvy, pal ) I definitely have a system that produces some incredible foresight. Unmatched at these forums or any other. The number of outrageous predictions that I've made that have come true probably does hurt some feelings. I guess it's even more aggrivating that all the people that I've owned just can't seem to get me back because each prediction goes into my impressive track record, and doesn't allow for the mockery that they are just dying to shoot my way. I see the frustration in this very thread! I could be somebody that "predicts" (and I use that word lightly) every week, and I wouldn't have to even put in any effort. I could just follow the good derby players and tweak!!! Is THAT what makes a good predictor? No thank you. I like my system. The accuracy can't be debated if you're an intelligent person. Thanks for the props.

But great call on Iron Man, i would have never guess it would have that monster opening. I don't really have a best prediction, but my worst one was when I made a bet with you that War of the Worlds wouldn't break 200. I've pretty much avoided the box office prediction thing ever since.

Re: You've Gotta Admit, Maverikk's Good At Box Office..
I gave up predicting box office, too. Unless you count me saying Spider-Man 3 would win the year last year (in which I never bothered predicting the number)
Before Iron-Man, I hadn't made a box office prediction since November of 2005 with Walk the Line. Everybody remembers the famous WTL thread, predicting that it would top 100 million, but I think the better prediction was nailing it's opening. (could somebody verify that for me?) Ah...the memories.

Wow, 3 predictions in 3 years. You're so amazing! I make predictions every week. So obviously I'm going to be wrong more than you. If I "retired" from predicting and made one prediction a year I could be 1 for 1 every year too. You're a tool

If you read those threads, a good 5-10 people agreed with Mav right off the bat.
Just because you MAKE the thread doesn't mean you're the only one who is predicting it.
