Just saw a report on this on the morning news show. Before I saw this, I didn't think much about it. Consideing that the US gov't aid is 350 million and US people have given close to 500 million. Anyway, they said this show is for keeping the thought alive of how much more is still going to be needed in the future.

On the show, they talked about musical performances from London, NY and LA. Some of the people they mentioned include Elton John, Madonna, Nelly, Norah Jones, etc.

And the others on the show, some will be answering phones as with the similar 9/11 one.

Mainly this idea was started by George Clooney and supports the Red Cross.

This is awesome, a lot of amazing performers. It's really cool to see Madonna helping out.

What celebrities were there exactly?

With Morgan Freeman and Clint Eastwood the first two celebrities to make speeches, it felt like they were implicitly promoting Million Dollar Baby.

Madonna's performance of Imagine was actually pretty great

Coming from anyone else, i'd think this was a joke.

I'm of two minds of about giving to this relief. On the one hand, I gave some money a couple weeks ago, and I'm sure many of you did too, and that's great, I'm not in any way criticizing people giving, it's a good heart. But on the other hand, Asia is home to thousands or more millionaires. How many times I've read stories like some Shanghai real estate developer has 8 rolls royces, each named after different Smurfs. That is made up but it is really not as far from reality as you might imagine. My point is that this should be Asia's moment to step up to the plate and show they are capable of organizing among themselves and contributing lots of money from those who have. Is that going on? If so, I haven't heard much about it. Maybe it's the fault of the news organizations not reporting if that is being done.

Also, I almost puked last night when I saw Connie Seleca and that square jawed blond guy who I forget his name, in Asia using the Tsunami relief situation as a way to be relevant again and get their faces on TV. That is becoming increasingly common it seems, even among politicians. There was a credible report that Bill Frist told a photographer to make sure to get some devastation in the shot when the guy was taking his picture in Indonesia.

As to John Mayer saying Oh Shit, who cares. The people this is helping mostly don't speak english anyway. I don't think some bereft mother who lost her 3 children to the Tsunami is going to mind if some American singer said an expletive on TV.

Is she still with that accomplished and talent composer and performer of ELEVATOR music, John Tesh ( of Entertainment Tonight fame with Mary Hart.) ](*,)
