Didn't think so.

But if you did, you should check out my brother Philip's CD, which is available through Amazon.com and CD Baby and so on...

He has spent a few years recording a bunch of songs he wrote with some good musicians (including yours truly)...

I'm playing on the song "Goodbye Innocence/Are You Satisfied?" which I co-wrote.

If you go to the CD Baby site, you can hear the first two minutes of every song in glorious mono...

http://cdbaby.com/cd/inspectormuffin

The CD is supposed to sound very 60s influenced -- think Beatles' Sgt. Pepper meets the Kinks meet the Turtles...

Anyway, check it out!

You can read the lyrics on the Inspector Muffin home page:

How does one get on Limewire? Let me know and I will tell my brother; he wants as much exposure as possible, of course.

Download the program and put the mp3 files in his "share" folder.

But that isn't really gonna get you exposure. Most people aren't gonna go searching for "Inspector Muffin"...they just use it for leaked Tool albums and porn.
Plus, it's illegal.

If you want "exposure" to these four people, you'd be better off just sending it to em through e-mail.

That said, this is actually pretty good. Maybe next time I'm purchasing from Amazon I'll stick it in the cart. (Unfortunately, that's not a very common occurance.)

Ah, thanks. Illegal eh? Better steer clear, then.

You can go to the link for CD Baby and at least hear clips from the songs now, though.

The individual songs will be available on itunes soon, I understand.

It's not illegal to put stuff up that you own the copyright to for download. It's only illegal to download and share music/movie without copyright holder's permission.

What some bands do is put their stuff up on file sharing services (Limewire, eMule, etc.) and then in song description put something like "sounds like the KInks". That way people will find it when they search for the Kinks and maybe will give it a shot.

Groucho. I would also register my music with winamp or mp3.com

like krem said, most bands who own their own copyright and are looking for exposure take this route. Limewire itself is not legal or anything. sharing of copyrighted music without permission is. If your brother has no issues with people downloading his music, then you're doing nothing that is illegal but using limewire as the way the makers of the program claim its meant to be used.

Thanks for the advice: I will let him know. He wants people to get the music (of course) because he hopes someone might like it enough to use in a commercial or in a movie (that's where the big money is). At the same time, he doesn't want to provide it for free on his website because then places like CD Baby and itunes get mad at him since they are trying to sell the music.

Yeah, it's a double-edged sword. You don't want to bite the hand that feeds you.

There are also so-called mp3 blogs around that concentrate on individual tracks and put them up for people to download. You may want to find one that reviews 60's style music and contact the author.

Thanks. He is on some "radio" internet shows already, which is cool.

This was just a fun project for him; it's not like he plans on it being a success, but he had the money and time to spend on it. If I could afford the same, I would record my songs the same way!

How about Shoutcast? It's apparently easy to set it up.

I like it a lot. Good to see at least some people still appreciate 60s music (not out here though--CT is a cultural wasteland).

Are there any other bassists here? All I know is that I am, Groucho is and Krem is.

Krem as well? Heh.

I've played it as well for a couple of years.
