 Official Poker Thread
This is the thread to discuss all things poker!
I am making it because well ... poker is on my mind.
I am a hardcore gambler, and tonight I am taking 200$ and going to a private club to play some No Limit Texas Holdem (as seen in the movie Rounders)
We will start with a 20$ 10 player table, winner take all. Pretty much a warm up. Then we start the main event. A 30$ tournament normally with about 500$ for first give or take depending on how many people show up.
After that 1-2$ No Limit Cash games will open up. Minimum Buy in is 50$ but realisticly you need 100-150 to be able to play properly, otherwise you will just get pushed around.
I hope to make 100-200 dollars tonight. We shall see. I also play on Pokerstars occasionally. I'll let you all know how I do.

Yeah, I only play poker online (for fake money)- not by choice, I would much rather play in person for actual money but very few people are willing to play. So I resort to pokerroom.com. Usually I just play the single table tournaments, 100 fake money buy in, 1500 chips TH no limit. I've increased my initial bankroll by 900% by playing in tournaments.
I'm DrAgentX001 on there, I know I've played with Nebs and I've played with torrino on another site (which I since got rid of) so perhaps we can get some sort of KJ Poker table set up. As long as we all get on the same server, right Nebs

Well,
I finished the night up.
I busted out of the 30$ tourney early. Took a few bad beats, lost my stack and eventually my seat.
The cash game started after that and people were betting like crazy. I bought in with 50$. I didn't play much to start, but after the blinds (1 and 2$) had gone around about three times I started to play. I had A8 suited diamonds, in late position. No one raised pre-flop so I got to see the flop for just 2$. The flop came down A 8 4 where the ace and 4 were clubs. I had top 2 pair, but was really worried about the flush draw. Some guy bet 5$ and was called by someone else, it folded around to me and I went all in for 30 more. I got 1 caller. We flipped them over and he was on a club draw, he put 35$ in to see if he would hit! Well the turn ws no help for him, and the river ... was. He caught it and took all my chips.
I reloaded, got another 50, and worked my way back up. Won some big pots, bluffed at a few pots. Eventually I had a 255$ stack in front of me. My friends wanted to leave so while I think I could have made much more ... I had to leave. I lost 30$ on the tourney, and spent 100$ on chips for the cash game, so i was up 125$ on the night, not to shabby.

No guarantees, but if you guys ever get a regular table going, post it somewhere or PM ok. I might not have time but it would be good to know about in case.

Archie, would be good if you register now at http://www.pokerroom.com - as at first you'd be on different server then the rest of us. You'd be on real money server.
But after some time, you'd get transfered to play money one.

That seems backwards. Seems like play money should be default and real money a choice that you can be transferred to later.

What kind of crazy-ass anti-capitalist world are you living in?
I generally use http://www.thepokerclub.com for my poker fix. It's my favourite activity that doesn't involve booze or boobs!

The land of better business models. Get people hooked on the play money game then lure them into the pay game.

I play poker for cash with my friends whenever I can. Overall I've broken even, which I am happy with since I have only been playing for a few months.

I finished 6th out of about 45 people.
First prize was only 850$
6th was just 75$
I was chip leader with 10 people left, then just couldnt catch anything. Eventually got blinded out.
O well.
