Guess what? All the liberals DID move to Canada!
http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/s ... hub=Canada
Quote: A 14-year-old girl hockey player has won the right to share the same locker room with her male teammates.
News Brunswick's Human Rights Commission has ruled that Brigette LeBlanc's rights were violated when she was forced to use a separate change room.
Judging by her picture, it's easy to see why even 14-year old guys wouldn't want to share the locker room with her ;-)

I think thats ridiculous. Its just paving the way for sexual harrassment lawsuits. It'd be like having co-ed locker rooms in junior high school. Also, at that level dont they have all-girls teams? I know we did in new england, so I think they would in Canada.

It says in the article that she might be going to an all-girl team next year anyway, so basically the lawsuit was done for pure ego-stroking.

That is seriously messed up.If she gets sexually harrased(and she will because we all know how 14 year old boys act when they are in large groups)The parents should be ashamed of themselves, and the hockey leauge also.

Oh, come on! It's Canada we're talking about here. From what bABA tells me most of their women look kind of mannish anyways. So, what's the difference?

If there is coaching going on in the locker room, then she has a right to be in on it. But if her only complaint is that she can't "hear" coaching tips or "talk" to the boys, why not rig up some sort of screened room (any office cubicle would do) in a corner? They can hear each other without seeing each other. She'll just have to shower at home. Really, this isn't rocket science.

I'd say that if there's coaching going on in the boys' room, then why not stop that practice as long as there's a girl on the team?

I say if theres coaching going on in the room, why not just move it out of the locker room and into a more common area.

Well if you mean "official" coaching, I'll give you that. But the boys coach each other and motivate each other etc. Besides, I'm not sure if the coaches could resist that temptation to coach in the locker room. After all, they're (almost) all right there in one spot. Seriously, is the coach going to say -- "Wait, I thought of something for next week, I think we should -- oh wait Bridgett's not here. C'mon boys get dressed we have to all go out into the hallway"?

well if bridget is not there, call her in .. its not like shes banned from the place ... guys .. just get decent, put your shorts on, call bridget in once shes in a proper attire and mention it .. its not too hard .... and not everyone can always get their own way .... I do not want my lady friend changing in the same room as me ... I tell you this would be thrown out of court if this was the women's volleyball team and the person with the case was a guy.

Meh. Coaching in general is overrated. We all know sports is about confidence, ego boosting, and developing a sense of individual strength. why now ixnay the coach altogether? I know I not once listened to mine in 12 seasons of highschool athletics.

That's cause you were in an individual sport :-P
Admit it, you're a closet libertarian.

Soccer's not an individual sport. But not that I think about it, I only lasted there for three seasons before I quit and did cross-country. Lots of track n field. What are you saying? Pentathlon isn't a team sport? Psha! Closet libertarian my shot-put arm, biatch.

Cross Country was my favorite high school sport. Those were back in the good ole days when I could run 3.1 miles in less than 18 minutes. Now, I'm lucky to do 24.

I always found my coaches to be quite instrumental.. esp in high school. they played college/pro sports before me, so they knew their games.

I'm lucky if I even do 3.1 miles. I think the last time I ran was when I finished the Philly marathon two years ago. I'm going to get back into shape though one of these days. Cross country is really beautiful. It ruined me to street running. I can only run in the woods now. I used to go down to state parks in eastern MA and run around in them. Walden pond was my favorite because I'd run for 45 minutes and then rip off my shorts and dive into the lake and swim for just as long, in nice crisp air and water. Being in New York without a tree in site has killed my desire to put some sneakers on. Yeah, I think the best I even did 3.1 was in around 18 minutes, I can't remember now. I only did it one season (when I quit soccer) because for three years the track coach was like run cross country. Well I was in a for a rough awakening, seeing as how, with the rare 800 m associated with a multi-event, my races in track tended to be over in 45 seconds and 16 seconds. Cross country seemed v.e.r.y. l.o.n.g.

I can sense what you mean Dolce. I'm not a runner for running sake, but since moving to NYC I have had no physical outlets for sports. its entirely frustrating. I also hate when people say 'well central park is a park'. not so much.
