 1st WOKJ Poster Awards Discussion
In the light of the recent events, mostly caused by one poster terrorizing the thread, the original thread on this was closed. Hereby, I re-open the discussion and repost my original post from the original thread. For more of the already happened discussion, read in this thread:
http://worldofkj.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... &start=160
Soon the time will arrive and the first WOKJ Poster Awards are inevitable. We have had the tradition over at BOM and it shall be continued here. I have got some changes from the last awards we have had, but most of the stuff remains the same. One thing that has to be changed is the number of categories as it was quite big last time and a huge amount of categories doesn't particulary insipre people to vote in all of them.
Here are the categories that have been used last time:
Biggest Moviebuff
Best Box Office Predictor
Best Thread Creator
Best Writer Of Posts
Best Debator
Biggest Franchise Fanboy
Best Signature
Best Avatar
Best Screen name
Weirdest Poster
Funniest Poster
Nicest Poster
Most Credible Poster
Smartest Poster
Most Entertaining Poster
Biggest Video Game Buff
Biggest Music Buff
Biggest Oscar Buff
Biggest DVD Buff
Biggest Comic Book Buff
Biggest TV Buff
Most missed Poster
Best Newcomer
Best Overall Poster
Best Moderator
"Desert Island"-Award
(pick 3 males and 3 females you'd like to be on a desert island with)
I guess it is quite obvious that the number of categories shall be trimmed down. I still want to stay with 5 nominees per category, though (at least with most of them), so this way not too many people will be disappointed because they weren't even nominated.
ABOUT THE CATEGORIES:
What I need now is suggestions how we could change the categories. What do you want added, what do you think should go. Personally I strongly support the categories "Biggest TV Buff", "Biggest Comic Book Buff", "Biggest Music Buff", "Biggest Video Game Buff" and "Biggest Oscar Buff" to go, simply because the site is not big enough yet to have categories like these. I also am playing with the thought of cutting the "Best Newcomer" category as the site is very new and no one really here (or only very few) can be considered a newcomer. Furthermore, I was thinking about adding 1-2 new categories at most as it has always been a tradition to add at least one new category at each awards. Maybe you can help out with thinking of a new one. Also I expect to hear suggestions and opinions on what categories should go, as it is clear that they cannot all remain. I have made my suggestions and I am waiting for yours.
As for adding or modifying the awards, I thought of adding one of these: "Most Mysterious Poster" or "Best Foreign Poster" (anyone outside of the USA) as well as modifying "Best Debator" to "Best Political Debator".
ORGANIZATION:
Co-Host (a.k.a. The Boy for Dirty Work ):
Torrino the Hippie
The voting:
I want to keep the old voting system. That means that there will be 2 voting rounds. In the first voting round (The Nominees Voting) the voters will pick 3 posters they want to be nominated in each category. They send their picks to the two posters who will be counting the votes. Once the votes are counted we'll have the list of nominees. There will be 5 nominees in each category and maybe 3 nominees in a couple of smaller categories (like in the Desert Island Award). Then the second voting round (The Winners Voting) can start. In that one, the voters just have to pick their favorite in each category and send the ballot to the two posters who'll count the votes in that round and determine the winner in each category.
If you have any questions on that, feel free to post them
The schedule:
Nomination Voting Start:
November 15th
Nomination Voting End:
November 27th
Winners Voting Start:
November 29th
Winners Voting End:
December 9th
Awards Show:
December 11th or 12th
In other words, you basically have time until Sunday night to discuss the awards in this thread before I open the thread with the Categories and the first round can start.
Hosting the Ceremony:
I think that we need 2 hosts at most to host us through the whole show. Last time we had a presenter for each catgory, but that didn't work out very well since some of the people didn't show up. Moreover, I am convinced that the show is more fun and entertaining when specific people with great entertainment and hosting abilities lead us through the whole show. Yes, the hosts of the ceremony will probably also be nominated in some categories. It is inevitable since the ones who are really good at stuff like hosting are also the ones who are very well-known and well-liked here. Also, the hosts will write some of the speeches for the awards by themselves and have some others writing a couple of speeches too and sending them to the hosts. During the ceremony, however, only these two posters who are the hosts will present the speeches and the winners. Torrino and myself are not hosts (incase that is not clear by now), but organizers of the show. The hosts of the ceremony will be revealed later.
Vote Counters:
I have already appointed vote counters for both rounds of the awards. Here they are:
Nomination Round - SamweisGamdschie & BigMoviePimp
Winners Round - Jon Lyrik & Dr. Lecter
Don't worry, I'll remind you before the voting starts
Surprises:
The last, but not least:
I have some surprises in store for you, such as a Honorary Award as well as a surprise appearance at the ceremony that I will try to arrange. I promise, we will do all that is in our power to keep you entertained and thrilled.
Now it is your turn to discuss the awards.
Let It Begin!

Thanks for reopening the thread, Lecter. This is a warning now to all of you who were saying things in the other thread, stop it. We want this award show to happen, and I'm sure Lecter will do a great job with it. Goldie, if you have problems with anything Lecter is doing, inform a mod. Don't attack him in his threads anymore. It won't be tolerated. Jon Lyrik amd BigMovieImp, stop with the attacks on Goldie. Especially the ones that aren't appropriate for this board. BigMovieImp, it'll be much appreciated if you took the Goldie comments out of your signature and/or location. Thanks.

I'm suffering from a major hangover (aka I'm in a "You can easily piss me off" mood right now)
Lecter is presenting these awards. He will listen to how they can be carried out but in the end, the final decision of how the complete thing turns out is completely upto him (within the limits of the forum rules)
If I notice the kind of conduct that was displayed in the previous thread, YOU WILL RECEIVE YOUR ONE AND ONLY WARNING.
DO NOT POST NUDE PICTURES
REFRAIN FROM PROFANITY TARGETED AT OTHER FORUM MEMBERS
BE CIVIL
STOP FOLLOWING A POSTER AROUND FROM THREAD TO THREAD
ONE LAST WARNING FOR ChANGING SIGnATURE UNTIL I FORCEFULLY USE MY ADMIN RIGHTS AND DO IT FOR YOU.
With that, I call and end to this unpleasantness. If you have any issues, PM me or go to 'The Site'. No more mention of these unpleasantnesses in this thread.

I'm suppossed to be co-hosting with Lecter, but I haven't done shit.
Lecter, get on MSN. I want to discuss ways to rige everything so I can win "Biggest Fanboy". You know I'd be first in line if there were a Passion of the Christ 2.

Pffff, you call that being a Fanboy?
From Yahoo.com (November 5th, 2003)
On the premiere of The Matrix Reloaded, a 15 year old fanboy, known as "Zingaling" on the internet, rushed into the theater and tried to get an autograph from Neo (Keanu Reeves) and ask Monica Bellucci to marry him. "The whole marriage thing was just to piss off box_2005", said Zingaling in an interview from his jail cell. "You'll see me again on premiere night of Revolutions, Neo!". He was recently checked into a mental hospital on November 1st, 2003, the day before the Revolutions premiere.

You guys are nothing compared to me!!!

Would you guys go that far?
