A brand new picture of Eagle's Nebula!

Image

and .....

A true feast for the eyes ....

The best EVER picture of the Northern Lights.

Image

Quote:
Brilliant splashes of color lit up the night skies across North America on May 14-15th, as seen in these two stunning photos of aurora borealis, better known as the "northern lights."

Auroras form when a "solar wind" of charged particles from the Sun enters Earth's magnetic field, accelerating electrically charged particles trapped within. The high-speed particles then crash into Earth's upper atmosphere over the polar regions, causing the atmosphere to emit a ghostly, multicolored glow.

enjoy!

A nebula is a huge mass of interstellar dust and gas. It is visible in one of two ways ... either it will reflect light and we can see it thus, or it will absorb light and we know its there by its darkness.

Yep, that they are. Nebulas are the foundation of space. Stars will use this gas, and a little gravity, to pull in all the gas around them before ignighting. Nebulas are often called the birth place of stars, among many other things.
